Marble/Tile Life Grinding Course
« on: May 11, 2012, 06:40:58 pm »
Like to thank Kevin and Anthony for an extremely enlightening two day intro to Planetary grinding course. Very hands on they showed us the diamond stages  right up to polishing powders on Travetine, Marble, Porcelain and even concrete which was amazing. We all had a go and only spent a couple of hours in the classroom.

Even went into maintenance pads, honing powders, hole filling and tile replacement.

Anthony turned to be a very good tutor, with the help of their two employees and Kev on Day two.

Only downside was The Gables hotel, on the motorway next to the control tower of Birmingham airport. Had a curry and a skinfull and slept like a baby.

Unfortunately Mark Sandwiths room was on the motorway with a speed camera outside his window so his kip was interrupted which quietened him down slightly on Day 2 ;D ;D

;D Yeah Top Class Grinding Course and well done Anthony for covering so much hands on grinding and cutting damaged tiles out.

Just a shame the old man Mark Shannon wasn't wearing his glasses when he read the hotel list to see this hotel wasn't recommended by Anthony and Kevin!!!
The rooms were s**t and the breakfast was beans on toast or egg and beans on toast avoid The Gables.

:)Think Tony gets a free "£5 Curry and a Nan" as a backhander from the Gables for putting it on the list.

Mark was so disgusted with the Gables he took a five minute video of his room at 4am so his wife and kids would feel sorry for him ;D

Hurry up and get a Levighator Mark. Then I can borrow it :)

Wish I could have been there it sounds good. Would have been a better class of hotel if I had been there too 8)

When is the next one Anthony?

"We are unable to accept anyone on the Grinding Course who has not done the Hard Floor Course."

Can you explain why that is Kev, considering they are 2 completely different disciplines?

We have to do it this way!  It is easy to fill a free course especially this one but if you have not done the hard floor course it is difficult for most people to keep up.

Kev,can you expand on that as Alan has done the tile doctor first stage course and thecadvanced course for hard floors as we have. Is it your own course that needs to be done first. ? before we can come to the grinding course.

Alan

Alan/Paul

Firstly I have to be sure that everyone is on an even keel when they start the "Introduction to Grinding Course" (Let us not forget that is exactly what this is an introduction) to do this the only benchmark I can set is to use our Hard Floor Course as I am not "Au Fait" with the syllabus of others courses such as Tiledoctor, Nu Life, IICRC HardFloor so the Bench Mark for us has to be our course.

Alan

Your statement that they are two different disciplines is both correct and incorrect as the courses are connected through petrology, sealers, substrates etc.  So the background knowledge from the Hard Floor Course gives you a head start for the grinding course.

I hope this helps to clarify our position.

Kevin has made that a lit long winded, I shall shorten it, so Alan understands  ;).

Alan, your pooe at hard floors so you have to do both courses. :D

Paul Your Fab and can just do the advanced one.  8)

Thanks for the reply Kev, i didnt realise it was an intro course (is it the Klindex course?) as its the actual paid for course im looking to do this year, i only know of one other company down south that do these courses, so i was just making initial enquiries, thanks anyway.

Alan

The Klindex course in Italy is a sales course designed to sell you a machine.  The course we run is different in that we go a lot further into the theory as well.  Just talk to one of the guys who have been on it.  However it would give you the confidence to buy a machine and then together with help from us (If Required) tackle your first job.  Some of my guys have been grinding and restoring floors for 5 years+ and they still sometimes need help and guidance when it gets complicated.  In essence what I am saying is that no course however long is going to teach it all.  The main difference with us is you get a Helpline to rely on once you have done the Hard Floor Course and the same applies to anyone purchasing equipment or goods from us.
