Hi guys, I have a 350 tank that we are not using at the moment, I was going to lend it to a friend to use as a rain storage tank until I need it.  Would this be ok with a good rinse out afterwards before I use it for the windows?

Many people pump rain water straight through a Di,you will be fine.

If you leave the water standing in it, especially in the sun it will go green and can be a nightmare to thoroughly clean it out after....

That's a good point GD, my friend wanted to use it as a rain water butt.  Do you think it would slime up if it remains covered?

I'd rather not sell it as I hope to use it later this year

I've seen and ibc tank painted black on the outside. The guy who did it put a strip of masking tape up the side, painted the tank and removed the tape. It left a small 'sight' gauge so he could see how much water was in the tank. He never had an algea problem after he did that.

Rise and Shine has a black 1000 litre tank outside in the sun with no alge problems either.
