« on: May 06, 2012, 07:29:08 pm »
Do any of you use Google Earth to give Quotes? I have been using it sometimes now , and find that i'm usually near enough. I have made a few co*ck - ups tho at the start.... But overall ok!

Hoping for a dry week ahead   ;D

Did it once, cocked it up ... never again. You cant get the sense of the job from anything other than seeing the job.

You can also suss out the customer when you see them and find out details that can add to the price like gates locked, only wants 1 clean.... there a scumbag who arent going to pay etc
Only those who risk going too far will truly know how far they can actually go

I do this all the time though i use google street view and not google earth , with google earth you see the top of the building that tells you nothing but with street view you see the front of the building. Admittedly it is only the front and not all of it but you can 90% of the time assume what the rest is like and ask the customer idf there is an extension or conservatory etc. My round is around 60 mile from each extremity so this way of quoting has been invaluable to me.

i use the streetview and never have a problem.  but if i hear the name Patel/Singh / i now backtrack and wont use streetview for a price   and i can honestly say,out of at least 50 injuns i have cleaned for,i gave each one chances to be normal but not a single 1 is honest . all have lied somewhere down the line

I have used street view a few times but like others always say the price is approx to cover my back!

Same here got google earth pro but only to give estimates not quotes.

Sometimes they're easy to figure out. For example seventies mid block access the back from garages, 6ft gate, small conny in a small back yard - they aren't going to change very much over the years.

Sometimes you look at it can't figure it out and end up going round to have a look be on the safe side.
