Portland stone tiles
« on: May 05, 2012, 10:14:59 pm »
Wondered if you could point me in the right direction as to what may be the problem with one of my clients floors.
It is Portland stone tiles, been laid around 18 months, they are in the mothers annex.......the worst part is going in the door to the bathroom, lots of wheelchair tyre marks but also not good in general throughout annex.
She tells me the guy sealed it when he laid it and she had just used a general cleaner and mop on it.
What,s the best way for me to go with it?
Also what product,s should I use?
Many thanks

Clive

You need to find out what the "general cleaner" is.
It could have removed the original seal if it is the stuff that Tesco...Morrisons...Sainsburys sells, I find that in many cases, most people will use Mr Muscle...Flash....Stardrops and washing up liquid thinking that all these are ok...they are all rubbish at keeping the sealer in place, they all strip it all out.

Try and find out what it was sealed with and post back.

Also see if you can post pictures!  Portland Stone comes in dozens of different grades as those that have done our course will testify to!  (I am sure no one will forget the Limestone with all the holes in we pass around)
