If it goes to court and they decide to defend, then I have to attend, at which point I've lost an absolute minimum of half a day's work. Just not worth it. More positively, what I do manage is not to let people get behind on payment. That's helped by six-weekly cleaning (more time to chase) and a twice-weekly run of reminder letters. If you do it regularly, it becomes just business and you don't get emotionally involved.i appreciate your opinion . my main issue with the custy is they have taken me for a fool and i dont want them to get away with it so im prepared for having time off (easy when you re a windy cause there is always saturdays) im just not lying down on this oneIf I did let a customer get to £160, it might just be getting to a point where I'd consider it. However, I might well still take the view that I'm better spending my time earning from people who will pay than chasing someone who didn't pay.Vin

I have found very good and won everytime for getting money back, also the customer is also charged the minimum £30 fee on top, and nearly all have settled before court case in full plus the £30 fee. Also in Teesside, telephone arbitration takes place, sometimes with an offer before, but mostly the court documents work, and customers are threatened with a possible ccj, and are frightened with thisidealrob

I believe from what I can remember that you have to give any debtor 14 days officially to clear a debt or offer terms to settle it prior to starting court proceedings, however old the debt is. Once the 14 days is up you fire in your claim online. You will receive a copy via email of what documents have been generated by the system on your behalf and what the debtor will be receiving. Its very self-explanatory and easy to follow system.
