I've been drooling for some time over a new pole (wife and kids think I am a sad git) from Gardiners but was putting it off as long as possible. Yesterday my 24 foot XTEL hybrid section 3 snapped over a long flat roof. A replacement section was around £100 so I decided to bite the bullet anfd buy a 27 foot CLX.

Before everyone tells me I should have bought an SLX, I just couldn't justify it to myself right now. My round is almost exclusively 8 weekly and I am only around 50% full. I am charging good rates so my hourly rate is excellent, but I just couldn't justify the extra at only half full. However, if this summer sees me pick up the way I did last year, I'll buy an 18 foot SLX in the winter as an everyday pole and use the CLX for the odd town house and con roof.

I 'll let you know how I get on compared to an xtel with Vikan brush. To me, these were perfectly fine, so I will wait and see.

I use a CLX-18 with a superlite extreme brush for most of my everyday work and I recently purchased a CLX-27 for the few 3 story town houses I do. However, so far I haven't needed the bottom section so I may remove it and make it a 22' pole.

hey mate, for domestics a clx is a very very good pole its like a ferrari is an amazing car but a merc is still an awesome choice, infact some prefer teh merc ;-P

Steve Sed , i have just done the same as you a couple of weeks ago , i had the 24 hybrid but some scrote robbed it off the roof of the van while i was in a house waiting to be paid !

Luckily it did not leave me stuck as i had a 18 and a 25 brodex alloy in my shed from the previous years failed expansion .

I used them for a while and began to feel like chucking myself off a big bridge every day ! 

I then went down and got a CLX 27 , i saw it as a good allround single pole option as my round is full of wierd and wonderful house layouts .

I have found the CLX to be very light and at the tag price i feel that it is the most incredible value pole on offer in the current market , i believe i paid about £350 for the hybrid extel compared to £240 or so for the CLX

I would like to add though that i did find the extel as i recall to be a bit more rigid than the CLX , and that was with a Vikan on the end , i would like to try my old hybrid with a superlite on just to see ..........but then i feel that i am converted now and cant go back !

My next buy will be an 18 or 22 CLX to fully set me up as i was

I would go SLX , but i dont want to turn into one of those weak pooftas that seem to be filling this forum at the moment

Sorry Mr G , have you had experience with CLX ?
If so , how much stiffer is the SLX ?

I cant believe i went to the shop and didnt even ask to test it , actually i can as i know i would have left with one , Alex and staff love to sell the wares , not in a pushy way though which was most refreshing , having said that though when i got home i did appear to have extra brushes and all the backup spares in a bag , i also had my hose cutter and a hat , i wont mention the hat though in case i start the whingers off

Had a clx for a couple of years. I keep promising Alex that i'm going to buy a slx, but with the aid of loads of superglue I keep the old clx going! I have to say its been a brilliant pole. The superlite brush is also fantastic.

1 bit of advice steve buy a superlite brush to go on the end.if you stick the vikan on the end it will make the pole bow through the weight.with the superlite brush it performs much  better trust me.you can also take the bottom section of for everyday use to make it more lighter.
But defo get a brush,i would advise the medium sill brush with your choice of jets.

Got the standard superlite. Did think about a sill brush..... Will have a look at taking the bottom section out.

my guys uses these as main poles too, I worked with one for a week, and they are a very good price.
SLX is a great pole, but clx are a next best thing, and tbh sometimes the little extra bend in the pole of a 27 clx comes in handy.
