do most of you folks use gutter vacs then? I do 'em off a ladder but it's a dirty ole job.

i did 1 and quoted 60 quid .seriously just went up the ladder and it just clogged up at the hopper to the downpipe it took 5 mins .tbh i was a little embarrassed when i knocked on the door for payment but business is business.i love them jobs

I have 2 booked in tomorrow morning!! I charge £25 per side to empty and clean them so a nice litter earner as they dont take long!!

Gutter vacs do suck up water as well and you don't get dirty cleaning the gutters, other benefits are once you get into they are quite quick and you can justify what you charge as your providing specialist equipment, they also attract the attention of the neighbours so is a good marketing tool, I had 2 gutter jobs booked in just before Christmas next to each other so put all the cones out and has my high viz on etc, the amount of interest it generated in the street I was working in was great, I started at 10am and by 1 o clock had taken £280, I bought the Clarke 30 which is all you need for domestics and this set me back £330 but has paid for itself many times over, it's all about being perceived as being professional so would always advise a gutter vac rather than doing by hand..!

I used to use the customers power, but I had a couple of jobs around the same time where that wasn't possible. One was a school, at half term - with no one on site.  the other was a rental property before being let out.  I bought a 2.4kw generator for just over £200. 

It works a treat and makes you look even more professional IMO
