For me, if I type Carpet Clean, or Carpet Cleaner etc. the NCCA should come out top on all search engine searches, regardless of area.

They do not even appear first page.

Before cleaning carpets I had no idea of their existance, and this is the problem.

I did consider joining after completing the training, and actually joined the IICRC but received nothing back, and the IICRC even threatened legal action for using their logo on our site, and this was whilst I was a member, apparantly I need to pay more to do this............

Good for training, and if managed / promoted better could be good for the bigger picture but most people I hear from do not feel that what they get out justifies what they put in.

Guys joining a trade association is supposed to be a benifit as well as an association to be proud of under present economic times and especially in our industry where new commers are starting up every day I don't think the association should be promoting new comers with the promise of high earnings just to get them to buy a quick course. We all know to be successful we have to diversify and not rely on carpet cleaning alone
You would be better off using the money to do a business /marketing course or a related new course to compliment your present opperation or perhaps just spend it on marketing.
Just my oppinion -

Consider this; would you continue paying for yellow pages or any other on line organisation hundreds of pounds where your return on investment was so pitiful ??

I think you know the answer.

There will be others who have benefited from membership for whom it is a worth while exercise, for you clearly not.

i don't look at it, how many jobs have the NCCA given me! I look at it as how many jobs have i won because i'm an NCCA Member!!! They've gone for me, even though i'm more expensive because they feel more comfortable, that i'm trained and insured!!!! If only they really knew me!!!!!  ;D ;D

Same thing isn't it ?

Like I said works for some but not for others,

Just out of interest, how do you know you 'won' those jobs because of your membership,

i always make a point of asking,  ;D not everyone says because your an NCCA member, but i've had enough to warrant the membership!

I agree with you, some it works for, some it don't,

If i didn't work for me, i would be the first out of there,  ;D

So what happens if your not a member and you have a dispute with a customer who is adamant their right and your wrong?
I was in this position over a year past. I got free access to a lawyer, and Paul Pearce wrote a report for the customer explaining what I had been trying to tell her, she had made it very clear she was not going away.
She did.
Without that help I would have been in for a lot of grief. Was a wick back problem by the way. I know Paul has helped out many other members.
My sale`s guy cold called her last week, whoops, frosty reception or what  ;D

Edit. Just saw the tea and coffee stains thread.

Absolutely Angelo purchase some Trifold leaflets from the NCCA and get a premium web listing for your area and push your membership on every call.

If you use the symbols to aid YOU then it works if you don't then it won't work for you.

Alot of cleaners have tacca logos and I'm sure that they will be pushing that a few may have guild of master craftsmen or wool safe you do have to remember that the big round thing in the middle of your head is not just to stuff food and liquid in.
