Unger Ergo Tec Pouch
« on: April 24, 2012, 05:48:41 am »
I am looking for a new pouch for my trad work.
The Unger Ergo Tec looks good but at 30 x 37cm it might be hanging around my knees. :)
If anyone has any recommendations  it would be appreciated.
Been looking at the range on Soap Nationals web site.

Hi Pure tech,

I use two of these pouches and find them brilliant lots of storage for wet and dry cloths.

Quality is doing it right, even when no-one is looking.

i use a leather pouch. the type you see on builders workbelts. i have sewed on a leather flap lid extra so that the rain wont get in. i expect it will last forever

Hi Gordon,
Thanks for that.
So does the 37cm depth not hang down too low?

Hi Bobby,
I have seen a windie using one of those leather pouches,  I must admit I prefer not having a flap so that the cloths are easier to reach.

Worst pouch I have ever used! ;D

Massive, heavy & stiff!!

I bought the whole system what a load of rubbish! I think it's been designed for something else & Unger have just re-badged it as they quite often seem to do! Nothing about it makes any sense at all or fits as it should. The pouches are SO big that two do not even fit on the belt correctly. The quality is spot on but the design is way out, it's massive, weighs a ton & will annoy the life out of you!!

The only use I can see for it is abseiling.

Is it this one:

If it is I think its great; looks the part holds wet and dry cloths in seperate compartments. Theres a little pouch on the front too I use for a scraper.

Im a short ass and IMO it isn't too big, I think its just right but yeah Unger Belt System looks a bit cumbersome!

I find the size is fine big enough to take wet and dry scrims in one and microfibre cloths in the other.

if you mean the padded belt i agree it is crap . I just use a normal leather belt and as for pouches being stiff i just put mine in the washer then tumble dryer it soon softens .  Mikw

lol they are massive, but you will be used to it after a day, they are excellent, my brother is trad and he uses one, beats sowing pockets on to an old pair of jeans :-)

i find the padded belt great.  i always find with other belts they spend all day pulling my trousers down and my boxers up!

Seems like it is a good pouch but slightly on the large side.
A high percentage of my work includes insides of residential and I am always squeezing in between furniture etc and grovelling about  low down so dont want a pouch that is too deep and rigid.
I see Ettore have a similar pouch to the Unger but this may be a lot smaller, maybe too small ?
I also quite like the look of the Unger 2 pocket apron.

The pouches I have used for the last couple of years are just the Ettore cheap ones- about £6 for two!. Lightweight, flexible & unobtrusive! They even come with a belt- although it's crap so I use them with a standard Unger belt. ;)

i use the black ettore pouch.pretty small but big enough for a sill cloth and microfibre cloth and scraper.i used to have the unger ergotech pouch but it was massive and the velcro kept coming apart so the pouch kept sliding off my belt!!very annoying!! >:( >:( ;D ;D
price higher/work harder!
