Best way to apply polish
« on: April 22, 2012, 08:02:39 pm »
Hi guys,

I have recently just got in to hard floor cleaning and I am after a bit of advice. I'm cleaning a sealed wooden floor very soon, and in order to restore the surface, I'll be applying a satin finish polish. The polish I'll be using doesn't need to be buffed, and it can be applied by hand. I am wondering, is a mop the best method or should I be thinking about something else?

Thanks,

Stu.

A flat microfibre mop will be best for you just starting out. How big an area is it?

Lay it on in thin coats in the direction of the grain. Normally you would want to cross hatch the coats but on wood just stick with the grain.

If you make a small hole in the lid you can pour a thin line on the floor and then spread it out.

The key is several thin coats rather than big heavy ones. They dry faster too.

You ever tried the LTP Wax on the floors?  It's available in plain and antique colors!!!

Dont put the wax on a sealed floor!!!

Kev and I arent referring to this specific project. Apologies for any confusion.

Best sticking with an acryllic polymer product on a sealed/varnished wood.
