just thought id ask what i should do,

my round is all within 5 miles from home and never took any work on further than that before,just to let you no what i charge its normally 0.75p per window £3-£5 for conny and if they go for bi-monthly its 40% extra,

a lady asked me a couple of months ago to clean her house but its 3 mile drive from my closest house to her house so told her to ask some people she knows and i would consider it,anyway she phoned monday and said she has 2 others interested next door to her and oppersite her house,

im going to offer the bi-monthly only option but should i charge extra for the travelling there or not,i just dont want to take them on and regrett it if i dont earn much more due to the extra driving,also 1 of them has a windy but not happy with him,what do you think?

3 miles is what, 6mins at most, divided by 3 customers is 2 mins each, just charge your normal rates (which seem a little low, we charge an average £1.10 per window and 60p a panel on conservatories).Good luck anyway

just price them better than normal but tbh a 3 mile  trip is nothing! its only like going across the other side of town, 10-15 mins with no traffic.

seriously any frame with between 1 pane Door, toilet etc to a four panel window. It's really all down to time and how long each house will take you to do. I look for each person to turnover £22.50 ph INCLUDING travelling time

I know where you are coming from Jackal, I tend to ignore work that isn't already on an exact street I work, I should really come up with a pricing structure that allows for travel

The question is really. How long will it take to drive there and back 10 min max. And cost the government per mile is 45p per mile. So round of the 3 miles there and 3 back that`s +- 3 quid and I would say at 75p  a window your hourly rate is 25 quid an hour divide the 25 quid by 6 to get 10 min.its would be+- 4.20 +3 quid travel = 7.20 YOU WILL NEED TO CHARGE FOR ONE CUSTY ONLY, IF YOU GET 3 YOU CAN CHARGE A LITTLE LESS.e,g SAY 5 QUID EACH FOR TRAVEL AND TIME.  HOPE THIS WILL HELP YOU.HAPPY TO HELP. MATE. :
If the area does not work out you can always sell them or and drop.I sold of 3 cusites worth 50 quid a month fro 150 quid because it did not suit me to go so far.

thanks,its mainly as im 1 man band and pretty full up anyway its runs through my mind is it actually worth bothering with but hate turning work down as you never no if you mite lose some and helps me to increase underpriced work aswel,i go see the jobs and give it a try anyway,just need find time leaflet a bit nearby

diesel will be more than covered by earnings, and imo work ALWAYS begets work, you'll pick up others nearby, even if it takes a few visits..

If you already have a good round price really high then if the customer is willing to pay it is worth travelling.

i clean a few stand alones here and there.i cant pick up any other work nearby as the other windy charges £6 for a 4 bedder(does a crap job and frames always filthy).i charge £15 and clean all frames,glass,sills and doors and provide a great service but the other guy has been doing this estate for years.ive leafleted it twice and canvassed.not a peep!!!he must be a likeable guy!!!

this is the problem really aswell, as the lady who wants a quote seen me cleaning her sisters house and asked me but i only charge £6 for her house as its my main compact round,the other ladies house is a detatched but i aint seen it yet,plus you can pretty much guarentee the neighbour who has a windy but isnt to happy is paying £5-6 aswell so be hard to even get them at £10-12 bi-monthly

I would go for £12 bu monthly , then they can either take it or leave it, just explain your don't normally work this area and are offering it to them from a recommendation, if you dont get it you have lost nothing, if you gain it at the price you want then you have had a result

going be at least £10 - 12 properly 12 tho for the extra drive,got to start charging more now as i dont nessesarily need them,iv seen some of these houses around that area and they have 8-10 windows on detatched ones,i just dont think il offer monthly in this area bi-monthly only to keep prices higher,if i get them il leaflet one day when im free
