The Reel Thing.
« on: April 17, 2012, 07:07:14 pm »
Got a freedom trolley had about 6 yrs.
Gonna get a reel and microbore hose.

Here's reel i'm looking at and also hose from gardiners
http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/info_REEL_METAL40.html

Just ordered my Aqua-dapter mk3 ;)

What else would i need to go trolley to van mount (as much as poss)

I thought warning cone (trailing hose) also thought car mat to throw over hose on pavement make it easier for joe public to walk over ( :-\)

I know Dazmond went freedom trolley to van mount (any pointers Daz)
Also what connectors for reel to freedom trolley.
thanks.
Lee

hi lee i bought that reel/100m microbore hose/350L tank and 2 ratchet straps.

me and my dad fitted and strapped down tank tight through the eyelets in my van floor and i simply drop my pipes from the freedom trolley inside the top lid.connect the trolley hose to my reel and grab pole and away i go.never used the trolley in nearly 12 months now.van mount for ALL my work.

its much easier than carting barrels about!! ;D ;D ;D

little tip!when the reel starts squeaking a bit when reeling in which it will after a while then simply spray a bit of WD40 on the spindle area and it ll be quiet as a mouse again and run smoothly!! ;) ;D ;D ;D

fantastic reels for the price!! ;D ;D

when getting cones use the heavy duty triangled bottomed ones that are sold by window cleaning warehouse etc, the A frame ones are rubbish they blow over with the slightest of wind.
I bought the a frame ones first then gave them all away and replaced with the heavy ones they last years also  ;)

Thanks very much guys, i know you'l laugh but staying with barrels,

reason being my ro setup is at my parents in their garage at end of shared drive difficult to squeeze van down there and parking can bit a pain at times (parents don't have paved drive)

So if tank in van would then have to run hose pipe out of garage into street to van :-\

Not good idea especially at mo with hose pipe ban  ::)

Daz, how did you find the leaving trolley on van?

I remember you were quite concered about getting close too houses. (like i am ;D)

hi Lee I use barrels as a tank I split the inlet pipe in two and pump from to barrels at once I have strapped 4 barrels together and a second 4 next to them so I have 200 litres.I run these of a 70 PSI back pak with a 20ah batter and its goes for 10 days without a charge.

Hi Wizkid how do you that?

Is it one of those Y shape garden hose connectors? where from?

Window clean ware house or gardiners.

Is that right 10 days without charge on battery? or 10 hours :)

Thanks Wizkid

just buy a tank lee and get some hose to run out to your van mate.far easier.i run mine down my stairs from my bath tap out to my van every night.otherwise its a pain filling up and you still have to mess about changing barrels throughout your working day.

itll save you hassle in the long run mate.

best wishes

if you have a van use tank as dazmond suggested but if using family vehicle
barrels bettr option just drop hose into barrel and it easy to store away if need
full use of vehicle
