those who employ, do you still clean yourself's???
« on: April 15, 2012, 11:14:50 pm »
i just want to know how many vans have you got out on the road working daily, and do you go out and still clean yourself or just rely on your workers.
id like to think that if i keep building as fast and as well as i am, that soon it will pay off and i wont have to do any actual graft myself.
Is this how many work????

cheers.

I think it is important to clean yourself, especially if you are working around others. . . . I mean who wants to be around a smelly person ?

I would say keep your hand in as workers get funny ideas. They quickly forget that you worked harder than they could imagine to build your business. You also need to keep yourself at the cutting edge of your business. But then you also need time to build other avenues that a bigger business will need.Your focus will need to move to team leading and building and so on.

I still work, however I don't get out on the windows much nowadays, I mainly help out on bigger cleans and cover if needed.

Got a one to do today for a large land estate, we are ripping everything out and cleaning the place from top to bottom ready for refubishing, taking 3 other guys with me and it's probably a two day job!

Got 20 staff (6 on windows) and 9 vans (3 on windows)

Quite right Bumper and we need to train our staff in the art of bumping the bathroom window, not writing a receipt and which drains are out of sight of the householder when we get taken short.

It's a game of three halves!

Im very hands on.

I also like to keep an eye on my lads and make sure they are cleaning to a high standard. It works but i watch them like a halk... You need to know how they are doing otherwise how can you get a feel for your business?

I'm out most days with my lads they know the score then and don't tend to muck around

My team leader is a young guy that's keen to get on and progress so he's sometimes hard on the other guys when they start shirking responsibility
