DON'T bother if its from a national, chances are they don't even have the contract themselves yet.

I had similar call a couple of years back,.. found out after I wasted my time that they just wanted ppl to do all the hard work of quoting for them free of charge. They'll get 3 quotes, add 20% to the average & submit it themselves.  >:( >:(

Don't let that cloud your judgement, jobs don't come out of the blue very often, this Jumbo job could be your runway to success. I'm just taxiing away on domestics at the moment waiting for the carasel of life to deliver my next job then I'm going to take off big time.
I think a quote would be plane sailing but these big nationals can be bar- stewards. It's your duty to have a look, they might have nothing to declare. could you handle the baggage that comes with it? - there's bound to be security checks.
hope it all takes off for you captain and you become a runway sucess  ;)

If its direct from the airport then it could be a very nice number!
You'll need to undergo some serious security checking for airside clearance, and standard PL insurance won't cover you for airside work, so factor these extra hassles & costs into your quote,..  ;)

Nice to hear you landed this great opportunity. Did the airport wing you on the phone or send you an airmail er email?

If handled correctly it could be a Rolls-Royce of a job, real quality; but you could easily just nose-dive if the terms aren't set out propellerly.

Will your quote be duty-free or will your turnover now be over the VAT limit? Either way instead of holidays in Lancaster, Halifax or Stirling you'll be out of Britannia and off to Canberra or even Vulcan instead!

If you come to a mutually beneficial concorde with the facilities manager you will up there with all the high-flyers on this forum.

I hope it's a tower-ing success story and that your business really does get airborne!

i would tend to agree with whoever commented above about using local guys to put quotes / tenders in therefore doing all the donkey work for the F/M - Nationals...
had the same at a call centre ( a massive one thats the name of a fruit..also a colour ;D)  near me .. site survey nica as pie want to give business to lacal people etc,,, written quote blah blah blah.. nowt since even emailed the guy after no reply... made a few enquiries and guess what... yip National...

how about... yeah a written quote will be ££ ..cover the cost of your time travel and producing the quote...deductable from the first invoice should you get the work... call their bluff see if they are genuine..

if they are fill ya boots

Could be right there Dave.

I've had a couple of jobs off the nationals in the last year due to their disgusting lack of quality control! ;D
