Looking for advice on my sons Ionics 400l fitted system, the pump is running very slowly this afternnoon, even when pumped out of side ports on van, so its not the hose or pole etc, just heard it and sound like a bag of hammers in a cement mixer, but anyone know whats best pump to replace with ?
Thanks

First thing I would do mate is check the strainer isn't blocked.
Take it out & clean it. The same thing happens to me every year after winter & it's always been the strainer.

Hi Rob,
If you need to replace the pump, we have always had good service from our Shurflo pumps coupled to Varistream controllers that by pass the pressure switch. Not sure I would use the latest Varistream as it drains the battery even when switched off. We put an isolator switch on Chris' van to stop this.
I'm sure you once said that one of your vans had a diesel heater. If the pump is moving hot water then Shurflos won't handle high temperatures - 77 degrees is the max according to their spec. I'm not familiar with the Ionic system, but I have heard that their pumps are expensive.

does sound like air in the system, have you tried disconnecting everything after the pump and running the system.
this usually clears it or rules out air.
