Cleaning the inside of windows
« on: January 30, 2004, 03:44:17 am »
I was wondering why wc's dont clean the inside of windows, only the outside, surely this would be helpful when its raining.
Any comments would be appreciated

The customer has to be in so need an appointment.
You have to be carefull with curtains ornaments etc.
You get warm then have to go out and get cold.
They won't pay a premium for the extra hassle.

Having said that if you do upmarket properties then they usually want in & out. My best job is an in and out for £80 which is worth phoning the night before to arrange!

We do loads of inside jobs especially large houses. We use pur water on outside and by time hes finished inside done to.Inside always use gg3/4 in spray bottle then cloth to wipe and buff.No ladders either use pole with clamp for cloth this is such a time saver.

Whats gg3 ???
it is a liquid called glass gleem 3 works very good but no suds, it is really good to use on windows just before changing to water fed pole
better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove any doubt

I got on better with GG4. This is the equivalent to GG3 but better in hard water areas.

This is the stuff I used for about a year prior to going over to WFP as Trevor stated, that way helps to keep suds/smears etc to a minimum.

Pure water sprayed onto a micro cloth, then buff with a dry one. Job done. You cant use a squee g effectively on small georgian windows. Well i cant anyway

i do inside work also, tend to squeegee all inside.

I always tell customer i charge a bit extra for inside work can be upto 50% more inside i.e £15 outside would cost £22.50 inside i.e in/out total £37.50

I always arrange in/out job for next time  in that area or when suits me 1st job of the day i.e 9-9.30am if the customer can't do this then i don't bother!

If i can't do 1st one in the day i don't bother as it will end up costing you money, appointments are a no go in window cleaning imo.

Saturdays are always an option, if i turn up and i have time i have done there and then.

if customer insists in trying to get me to fit in with them rather than be negative i use the term call out charge that usually gets them 1st clean of the day.

as to cleaning method i've tried always, i like to squeegee + i think it makes it look to difficult to the customer, i.e something a bit more complicated than rubbing them over(not saying trigger bottle and cloth dosen't produce good results!)
cheers lee.

I also charge x 2 1/2 for in and out but it always takes me longer to earn the same money than doing outsides of other houses in my normal day so for it to be worth my while i really need to charge x 3 for in and out or not do insides at all, i would quite like not to do insides beacause they are ALWAYS a pain and you can bet the majority of insides are georgian windows, usually going real quick to still make ok money which usually gives me blisters!
Problem is either way custies wont like it  ???
