[bad trippy]

Hi folks, first time i have ever posted here in the carpet cleaning section.
Anyway need some advice, a custie of mine wants her canopy cleaned, its a canvass type canopy, full of green slim and algee.
I done a lil test area today, i gave it a good soaking with virosol, waited a couple of mins, then jet washed it.
The result was okish, well the lady wants me to give her a price to do the whole of said canopy.
Any chemicals you would recomend folks?

Here is one I did last year at one of my favourite coffee shops in Belgravia.

I used Heavy Duty Microspiltter, brushed and extracted with an upholstery  tool attached to a truck mount.

I am not sure that you will get the same result with just a pressure washer but the chemical did quite a good job on it's own

I do the canopies for a restaurant chain up here, similar staining. Never thought of using carpet cleaning chems on it to be honest. I've just been using non caustic TFR.

These chemicals your naming, how do they need to be applied? Do they need to be agitated?

At the moment, I'm just using a bucket filled with TFR/water, dipping a telescopic brush (Soft bristle) into it and scrubbing the canopies, then jet washing them off.

Could i do the same with the chemicals you've mentioned? do they need ALOT of agitation?

Matt,

Microsplitters do need agitation to work. You could try them using your method but I am not sure if it will work as well. I suspect I got a good result because I have  a 69 hp truckmount to rinse the canopy at high temps and high pressure and vacuum away all of the crud.  Worth trying though. I suspect something like Prochem ultrapac renovate would work quite well too.

Thanks alot for the reply. I have hot water on my machine, maybe ill try that when i rinse. Im assuming these chems mentioned are all safe for the fabric type canopies? excuse the ignorance.

Best place to buy said chems? I wont need alot, the jobs come up as and when and its usually only 5 or 6 medium sized canopies at a time.

Hi Matt,

I can't comment on whether the chems would be safe on all fabrics used in canopies as this is the only one I have ever cleaned.     I would test each one to see what happens. These are strong chemicals in the fabric cleaning world so tread carefully. I wouldn't clean indoor fabric using them but this canopy was very heavy duty and the colours were stable and it was a mess.

You can buy a version of a Heavy duty micro splitter at Cleansmart and World of Clean.

Ultrapac Renovate is available from any Prochem distributor including the sponsors of this forum. Cleansmart are also a Prochem distributor.

This is my one and only ever canopy clean. I did it as a favour really. I offered to look into awning sealers for the owner of the coffee shop but he didn't want to spend any money on it. 

That was the end of any thoughts I had about offering it as a service.

Ok - was just wondering. I had some PermaSeal Awning sealers shipped over from the States last year as I couldn't find anything over here.  Trouble is I now have to wait a couple of years to discover if they are in anyway effective.

I thought I found something by a company called Winsol Laboratories in the UK? i am sure that some kind of sealing/waterproofing would be essential to keep a canopy looking good. Whether you can get the client to pay is another matter. Mind you with your silver tongue..... anything is possible

As you were in Montrose Place - would have thought you could have nipped around the corner - there are a pile of green canopies that need doing there at regular intervals
