i have 3 water butts connected to the down pipe .the water comes from a perspex roof which i just cleaned.i put a sponge on the drain aswell .i just pump it to the tank in the van and through a di vessel.simples
Think you bright sparks on here should all get together and sort out a system that we could all use during the water shortage periods.a simple system that we can all use.Somebody must have the brains to do it cheaply.

this may be an urban myth but don't the water companies claim the rain water is theirs and can charge you for collecting and using it ??

Its not an urban myth, By collecting rain water you are technically preventing it going into the drains or the ground water system so they can collect it to sell. Thats the way they see it, its a bit draconian but in the eyes of the law they have the right to all the water in their area. They pay the Government for the right. Its only times like this that it becomes an issue.
