Canvasser is no more ! what to do ???
« on: March 29, 2012, 05:52:27 pm »
Off for 3 months due to broken heel ... apparently ?

Was just starting to get going as well after a false start with wrongly priced jobs  ::) ... even after the £1 a window conversation.

So thinking of either employing an old boy just to drop leaflets and deal with the phone calls or to dedicate 1 day a week to canvassing and 1st cleans.

Would be happy with 5 new customers a week which would be about 200 new customers in 10 months.

I tend to do good at the canvassing when I have the time and can control pricing by doing it myself.

Any thoughts or suggestions welcome  :)

I've had canvassers and have had a hard time retaining. They do great at first but seem on the look out for better things. I've paid £10 per hour plus commission and got problems.
I've found them starting late, finishing early, getting the minimum expected then stopping for chats, pricing things wrong, making promises and not telling me, not passing on customer requirements like days gates unlocked or best times to call back, not checking for conservatories then pricing wrong and taking down details for commission. I've been through a few. All ex energy company guys!

No one can do it better than you. You also get a feel for the area so you can sense the right areas to bump up the prices

id dedicate one day to canvassing and first cleans ian if i were you,as danny says you can get a feel for the area and price up what you want for the job.

i just let people come to me these days.most turn into good solid customers.i always get a steady trickle of new work every month all year round.

best wishes ian

the gamble of a leafletter is they know deep down they can skive. ive had 2 skivers this year ,one was going home once i was out of sight, another was sitting for hours in a bus shelter textin his mates . however i  have another 2 leafletters onboard right now  who Seem dedicated at this moment .

i also have a "mr hussains" number stored in my phone who assures me he can supply somebody athletic  who wont bin my leaflets

I'd do it yourself, got more control and know what you're getting into. I'd have to know a lot about a canvassers ability to get prices right before I set them loose.
