It sounds like you need a "feeder" account that isn't business.  Presumably you have a lot of customers paying by BACS so a straight account switch would be a hassle.  However, cash need not be deposited so long as have a safe place for it and aren't the type that's tempted to spend it.  It could be used for diesel etc.  You could start a personal account to "feed" the business account.  Or maybe feed it by BACS from a Santander business account as they are much cheaper to run.  Obviously you would need to keep more detailed records in case HMRC ever wanted a look but there's no rule that insists on using one account only nor are you obliged to deposit all the cash.  So long as you show it in your books of course.

banks are a joke these days always trying it on with sumat,iv got 2 banks 1 is joint where i just pay bills for house,1 is personal but now is for bills aswell since starting w/cing,both try get me have business account or some type of insurance when i pay money in,plus had a letter from hsbc other month say if i arnt paying in more than £500 a month regulary then my account is going to be down graded to a current acount   which thats what it is anyway

thedres a simple way around bank charges,(i'm also with HSBC) but all your cash/cheques in a personell account then go home and transfer it to your businessa account online..... theres no charge....

In that case go back and tell them to do one as whoever you've spoke to is having you on.

We definitely are not charged for deposits and this was something I went into with them a while back after a misunderstanding following a letter we received, maybe the same misunderstanding?

They used to charge for the CC so I just cancelled it and use my own as though Petty Cash. This is a better option anyway as business CC's do not receive the usual CC benefits (Free Insurance).

easy solution, Send the wife to bank, erm but hope the cash goes into the banks

I'm getting fed up with my Lloyds business bank charges - I did open a Santander business account last year, but my nearest branch is 20+ miles away - so I don't use it much.  I got in with the totally free account just before they changed it.

I don't put the cash into my lloyds account as it costs more than cheques to pay in - so lloyds only see 50% of my turnover.
