Question to people without ladders
« on: March 12, 2012, 12:51:21 am »
Im going to be doing wfp without ladders. i dont intend to carry ladders :) i know a lot of wfp people dont carry them... so i got a good question.....

Theirs some windows above parts of the house... such as  the garage.... and you got no ladders....  so how will you get across to clean that specific window ?

Do you just always find a place to do it from and hold the pole a bit awwkward? ? thankyou

Yes!

Would  be worthwhile getting some training on WFP before you start so you dont do yourself an injury stretching to far or not carrying the weight right.

wow harunh, only 1 smiley! your cutting down!

I have a little collapsible too as don't want roof racks, I lean up against conservatories, flat roofs, and can get better reach. occasionally I use same ladder to get onto flat roofs. not ideal, but ladder use minimal, and lower than 2 storey work.

what if u get a new job that needs scraping first clean?opening or hooking a bolt on a locked gate?the odd flat roof on a big job?

You need all the tools of the trade in your van imo
price higher/work harder!

i now dont carry ladders, but have the little giant ladder in the back of the van ( there was a thread about this a few weeks back, do a search )
if i ever need the ladders, they are at home, and can be brought out for special occasions  ;D

I built my whole business! (2 vans) with out the use of ladders so it can be done!

Gardiners poles have made it a lot easyer as we get to most windows as there poles are so light!

We have only lost 2 or 3 jobs because we didnt use ladders!

Ladders are very much a thing of the past....

Until water company mismanagement starts us risking our necks again with perhaps a 40% reduction in income and being unable to do some jobs at all.

Ditto-however,we also carry fold up (4section)ones on each van, coz you never know
we succeed because others can't or won't

I can't see how you can clean a flat conservatory roof without a ladder... Or at least steps.

you cant do some jobs without a ladder for sure.  but they are few and far between.  just give them a miss.

i cant risk myself or my staff getting a sprained ankle coming off the last steps of a ladder.  just not worth it.
