Just wondering (on a Friday night watching the Disney XD channel)!!

How many or who have moved back to portable machines from TM's?

I think all of the furore of TM's has gone and there's more of a 'you either have one or don't' cleaners aren't looking to change to a larger machine whether it be for cost issues or the fact that portable cleaners are getting better.

Who sells TM's in the UK anyway?

1.Hydramaster
2.Woodbridge
Ashbys (but their supplier has gone bust)
Prowlers but John isn't doing them anymore
3.Chemspec
4. Prochem (Sapphire and Prochem)
Alltec stopped doing them as Blueline went bust

In the interests of accuracy - Alltec did not stop selling Blueline TM's for that reason.

 I don't think Chemspec are selling them either now.

Actually when it comes down to it nobody is selling them because there is no demand at the moment.

Ihave a Chemtex Panther 25. Last year they where 10,800 plus vat. This year they are 15,800 plus vat

Perhaps it proves my point I suppose perhaps there's a danger of them becoming obsolete.

Hydramaster are the only consist supplier by the look of it.

I guess sales will have slowed, with the recession, there's loads of portables on eBay, seriously loads! Good truck mounts seem to be hung onto only old rubbish comes up for sale, after there useful life is been used up.

The Blueline name is owned by, or is now in the same group as Sapphire Scientific (can't remember the structure, but one company owns a few others).  Blueline was bought with the intention of shutting it down, and the technology was then put into the Sapphire range of truckmounts which are sold in the UK by Prochem (but DriEaz can service them).

I've heard a few different stories as to why blueline no longer have trade links with Alltec but it's just hearsay

To address the original question, the people who have gone back to portable from truckmount must have a specific reason, like they are scaling down their business.  Or I can think of one or two examples where they shouldn't have bought a TM in the first place because they can't market themselves for toffee, despite talking all the talk and wearing trendy glasses and a nice white shirt.

I find this strange, are you seriously saying newbies, franchises, current owners aren't buying and particulary that  those of us with portables aren't 'upgrading.'
Granted at my stage I wouldn't buy brand new, but if a decently priced used TM came up I would seriously consider it which would free up the current owner to buy new, and there must be others in the same situation.

I can't believe the future of TM's is in the balance because even 'we' portable users know that petrol driven machines are overall better.

You have answered your own question when you said you wouldnt buy new. Most people are not buying new at the moment hence the disintegration of the supply network. This is not the end of Tm's just a temporary lull till the economy picks up and confidence returns.

Just going back to the op we have just decided to sell one of the tm's and go back to a portable.
Lots of reasons, mainly running costs and access issues.

Its listed in the for sale section for anyone interested.

Whys John not selling the prowler anymore. Id of thought it has benefits other TMs dont.

Hydramaster are hard to beat for aftersales over the phone support.  Especially last week (drive belt and pump head in the same week)

simple facts ere: the manufactures charge a premium for the design although it may cost a whole lot less to manufacture then give the product its place in the niche market that only the higher earning skilled professional can and will invest in like Paul Moss.
