bottom section from one of my slx 22 has come off there was a bit of tape come off, anyone know how to repair this ? do i have to try and remove the camp to put more on or is there some way to do it with the clamp really loose. and what tape is best to use

Hi Paul

You can replace this tape with good quality PVC electrical tape. To do so follow the steps below:



1. Undo lever-arm assembly on the clamp and remove - pull out the section completely.
2. Clean and dry the lower 20cm of the section.
3. At 130mm up from the base of the section wrap the insulating tape around the section - do this one complete wrap around and about another quarter of a wrap, then cut the tape and neatly press down.
4. Using a small Allen key (or similar) prise the two clamp jaws apart and slide the section back in - You will need to be very careful as you slide the tape past the jaws of the clamp. to see how to do this watch the second half of this video - http://youtu.be/VeXQaNUb8-4
5. Slide the section fully back in and re-assemble the lever assembly.
 
You will have completely replaced the joint-stop by doing this. You will find as the pole ages that this may become needed on other sections.

while your about is there a way to replace the whole clamp unit on the poles without having to cut any of the pole itself because of the clamps being glued on..must admit i prefer the old style clamps on poles like xtels where you could undo the clamp to take it off and put a new one on a (few years ago now).
