one hand giveth and the other taketh away!
« on: March 07, 2012, 08:04:40 pm »
Well I spoke too soon boys, I have just lost a £95 pub! I have been doing this place 11yrs! About 5/6 yrs ago a new couple took it on and I nearly dumped this job a couple of yrs ago as the woman would continually move the goalposts as in, she expected me to hoover out the crap, dead flys etc of the runners when i would clean the secondary glazing! when i pointed out i cleaned windows she was rude and said its about common sense if this needs doing do that and skip something else.

Anyway I relented to her requests and thought we had found an understanding after i stood up to her...Flash forward to present day.

It was due 2 weeks ago and i text her to let her know im coming (i know dont like it but she insists) and she says can we leave it 2 weeks? I said ok (i think i mentioned on another thread they did it early last year so wasnt bothered) anyway something else i must let you know the last 2 cleans they have not paid on the day and said they would pay by bacs but both times were very late paying as in nearly a month, bearing in mind it has been cash on the day for 11yrs! So I sent a letter saying it is fine to pay by bacs, cheque or cash but i will need payment on the day (it is a pub with about 12 b&b rooms and the london posh folk ram this place in the summer, basiically its not a struggling business and has very good cash flow. nobody eats, drinks or sleeps without paying there bill  )

......So about half an hour ago I get a text saying how she didnt like my letter!  and we have come to the end of the road. I felt so angry because I have really gone the extra mile for these people and bit my lip seriously so much the last few years. Anyway I text her back thanked her for the business, explained that i wasnt rude i was merely pointing out my terms and if i ordered dinner and drinks i would be expected to pay my bill blah blah. Anyway my parting shot was "I hope you find someone who meets your requirements, although i sincerely doubt you will as you continually move the goal posts. all the best. Dan" that cancels out the  nursing home i picked back up yesterday! Oh well no worse off financially than the beginning of the week.

It was prob the lack of paragraphs that pushed her over the edge.  ;D

It sounds like she was a load of hassle anyway. I plan to put all new commercial on to a monthly 'service charge' payable by standing order. It's the way forward.

i am glad i spotted this post
Today in my day dreaming state i was wondering what things make a good business and some of the things that were going thru my mind was
1 do only what your paid to do,as doing extras doesn't get you any were, there soon forgotten about, unless you get paid
2 be a little bit ruthless, not nasty, but after what you have gone thru over the period of time, looking back you should have dropped them and replaced, hindsight i know

there is many more but i would be here all day,in my opinion your better of with out them

Sunshine cleaning - that was the funniest thing I've read in ages mate, my sides are splitting here!
I've never been to bed with an ugly bird but I've woken up with loads!
