NWC or Yell???
« on: March 07, 2012, 02:16:31 pm »
Ok im sure theres going to be plenty of people saying that they're both crap and a waste of money but the people who are on them or were what are your opinions??

They both offer the similar value for areas if you go for the heavyweight listings in yell but are people actually getting a return for there money??

looking for wc's in your area yell is one of the top in google but the nwc doesn't list, i am getting a new website and having a lot of seo work done just wanted to see if its worth a punt on one of the others??

Dean I advertise on both,  NWC is new so they need to to settle anyway the rankings they get will not be true figures to look at what ever people that slate it say, i know this to be true as do the same myself.
yell is a household name, I would ask them for the reach of the amount of people searching within your area, business tend to look on there a lot.
My advert pays for itself or I would not advertise on there, I have one of the top heavyweight spots there.

I am ranked 1 first page google with my website, but every little helps not everyone will click on the top spot anyway so it pays to have more channels there are 11 spaces that are good to fill, so having more is good  ;)

hope that helps

thats a great help thank you, so hypothetically speaking would you say that nwc is something that may be worth looking at in the future when it reaches better rankings as it does seem a lot of money for a small postcoded area...

I've noticed the NWC Residential and Commercial have both been covered in my area by the same company.
I looked into the company further and found they are not even a "proper" window cleaning company.
They are a Grounds Maintenance Company.  ???

the smaller areas are (as far as I know merged with others to be fair to the person that pays the money, and are first come first served basis, they are new so are eager to please so I would have a go on it before someone else does I can see it working for commercial work, they are doing similar to what I did on my site, limiting to one area and rank well for them.

Hi

Sorry you feel this way but the company that has bought this area have just invested in two full van systems to offer window cleaning services to the current clients they have and are looking for new customers in the area they work

Makes perfect business sense to me!!

I've noticed the NWC Residential and Commercial have both been covered in my area by the same company.

Yell can vary on where they list, but it also varies by area of there success for each business
i found the smaller paper adds worked but the bigger did not.
as for Yell.com it did not cover its cost so not worth it for me, though i think i am listed for free

as for NWC time will tell

Hi,

We are only four months into our project, so I think comparing us to Yell.com is a bit of a compliment!

We are hoping to hit the 1st page for the search term "window cleaners" on Google by the end of the month, we are currently Page 2. We were Page 7 a couple of months ago.

This should bring a lot more traffic to the site as a whole and benefit all our members.

Cheers,

Huw

Huw is a good guy George (ps give me a call) , just these figures i think are not exact, unless there has been a surge of late, I used to rank google page one position 3 for window cleaning as the keyword and ranked 2 for window cleaner, it did not get much traffic as people type in phrases and this is something people fail to understand (thats not pointed at anyone but is true) althought it is a nice feeling being page one google for a generic name like said, I can understand why they want to do this, its like getting a medal and that medal feels good, I know I have them  ;)

Was waiting for your call lol I am sure Huw is a good guy but felt the reply was a little off, I only asked a question and I can see why they would want to be up there but I would imagine most people would include their town or region in the search...
