Loads of fibres when extracting

Am I doing something wrong, because when carpet cleaning I seem to have a lot of carpet fibres in the waste tank after emptying?

Hi Barbara, Do you pre-vac? what is your method of cleaning? is it only with wool carpets or the majority you clean?

with a little more info i'm sure someone will be able to help you

Go over carpet with rake or sebo duo befroe vacuuming and you will remove far more fluff.

Is this happening with the normal wand or the Rotovac???

The Rotovac does tend to do a deeper clean hence more fibres in the waste tank.

As others say PRE-VAC PRE-VAC PRE-VAC.

It tends to be most carpets,using wand or rotovac.
I fully vacuum prior to pre-spray,emptying the bag once half-full as taught,but find myself scooping out at least 1-2 handfuls of fibre from waste tank at end of each job.

You still haven't said if it's wool. I get this problem with expensive wool carpets. I gave a THIRTY year old Wilton its first clean in December. Came up like new. It shed a lot of fluff. Par for the course. Thorough pre-vacuuming will reduce it. Are you testing the fibre to see if its wool or wool mix and if so are you cleaning in a woolsafe manner?

Alan,as mentioned above ::),it tends to be most carpets,i.e. wool,80/20 mix,synthetics.Average room vacuumed for 20/25min prior to pre-spray as per instruction from Mr Paul Pearce to remove 79% of dry soiling,so fibres should be removed during the vacuuming stage.I perform fibre and colour tests on initial survey as per IICRC training.
My machine is an Alltec Advantage I use both vacuums to extract could this be causing the problem?

the carpets that shed the fibres are they new clients for you!? if so its possible that previous cleaners just not doing a thorough job. it will be interesting when you go back to do the same jobs if the same thing happens as i doubt it!? so perhaps you should be thinking positive!?

Hi Pete,
Yes all of the jobs that I have done are 1st time jobs as this is my first year in business.You may be right,and indeed it will be intresting to see how they clean up on my next visit.

I have this problem from time to time, I was given same advise as youbut i tink someone mentioned an Inline Filter but the seem a little expensive.


I do not know if it would help to save a Motor or if the other Filters protect the motors.

Ivestopped worrying when it happens mainly on wool carpets.
