Last weeks drop of 10,000has so far brought in 20 customers this week, some spending £200 on the first clean.

Some spending £200 on a first clean ???

You been on the juice ?

Lee will correct me if I'm wrong but I think he means gutter and conservatory cleaning as well as windows.

Its shocking that some of you run a business.

from some of those posts Im starting to think you wouldnt understand how to run a bath!

we will see who gets the poop return 9 months from now.

people call for weeks and weeks after a leaflet drop. 20 in week 1 is good.

Our new customers quite often spend upwards of £200 with a first clean. derrrrr with extras!

Of course with doing things like im doing and being public about it I realise the morron brigade will be out in force. I am really only sharing this so LIKE MINDED people can see something done a little differently in terms of scale and execution.

And I must say that those like minded people are out there and I have enjoyed being contacted dirrectly at my office this week by people all over the country and exchanging ideas over the phone.

now im off to bed in a mo since im up at 6am tomorrow to meet 35 people with my mountain of boxes that will only get me a poop return, at least I can get a mac donalds breakfast!

Lee I'm with you on this. We only leaflet NEVER canvass. in 5 years we now employ six people. I'm off of the glass, always dealing with quotes and paper work. We leaflet each area every 3 years, works well for us

well done Lee, i only ever done leaflets as the people that call generally really do want a cleaner and not been put on the spot by canvassing, you also do get calls at varying times so a contant dribble of new work comes in. Thinking big should not be put down by others just because its not for them. good luck with it if it works well in these times who knows what can be achieved in the good times. paul

I built my whole round on leaflets. Each to their own, but in my eyes, it is the best way. when someone calls you, they are not messers, and you are in control of the pricing.

People who dont see the whole picture, think that if they are spending a lot of money on advertising, want to see an immediate return. With leaflets, its like a residual income, customers drip in for a long time after they have received the leaflets!!!

I made the mistake of not keeping on top of it the last couple of years, and really noticed it.

Im staring this years campaign in the next couple of weeks once ive found a new decent printer of leaflets (so any recommendations greatly received).

Im also looking to change the design, so if anyone would kindly give me a peek of their leaflets, i would be thankful if you could mail them me to info@mj=cleaning.com

Good luck Lee, im watching this thread like a hawk mate  ;)

i dont understand why other window cleaners slate you lee!!at the end of the day we all run our cleaning businesses differently.

i personally do the odd bit of leafleting and canvassing but its not very often.most work comes through word of mouth and recommendation.and your right.most customers who ring up are quality customers.

best wishes to you all

i get what you re doing lee, and i think its the right way of doing things too.

the people who dont get it, just aren't business people.  they may well run a successful one van operation, but that's something very different.

keep the updates coming please.  i find it all very useful and exciting!

good luck today

Hi Lee,it was great to speak with you at length the other day
Please keep us updated on your progress, it's a truly fantastic approach to this business and the dividends are rolling in already
For what is worth, given the demographic of customers that your campaign will appeal to, I think you should far exceed your estimates over a 12 month return

Good luck for the long day today

Hi,

I will report back once our 20,000 flyers have been delivered this month.

Will probably do them solus at £70 a thousand, but have had an offer of £15 a thousand shared distribution with three others which sounds very cheap.

Total costs with shared distribution would be £520 including printing. If you could still hit 0.2% and get 40 customers would mean a cost per customer of only £13 which would be pretty cheap and a no brainer.

Cheers,

Huw

hi
i think thats about right huw, but also you could get some other one offs that will cover the 520 outright so the regular customers will be free

cheers

So its 4pm now and 2 new from today drop so far.

Im a bit dissapointed with the weather but what can you do. I got the saussage and egg breakfast which was nice.

here is a good reason to not leaflet..... loading the car with the boxes my back suddenly went twang and ive been in agony all day! gutted. I hope it sorts itself out quickly as I will need to be out on the tools with lots of first cleans coming in.

Today I have been round to see a woman who door knocks for me and she is starting again next week.

canvassing has its place I just dont want to pay £30 or more for a customer. I pay her £10 a customer (only after I have called them up to confirm everything) plus an extra £5 for every additional service they have with the first clean.

huw I would opt for solo's rather than a pile through a door better hit rate.

Lee, your always trying something new, thats great stuff. if it add business and is profitable thats good business from where i'm sat.

I have leafleted for years I find them the most loyal of customers, so looking forward to your results from it. seem a cheap way to get more work/ your name out there which I think people are missing

If they cancel then they cancel, there is no come back to her. Again I would say we just dont get these kinds of problems.
