My present van has nothing on the floor (protectacote/speedliner/lineX etc) - I've had it 5 plus years from new and had my share of overspills and condensation - but no rust at all. (I did put some undercoat between the back of the tank and the back doors to stop scuffing from cones etc turning to rust.)

The only thing I did was silicone between the base of the bulkhead and the floor to stop over filling or hoses popping off from causing flooding in the seating compartment.

Although this hasn't always worked the van has suffered no rust issues.

So why should I bother with my new van or why not just put rubber mats or vinyl down on exposed areas where I might scratch the paint surface?

that is all I ever did malc, my old van I painted with underseal and threw in rubber mats, underseal is about a fiver but it is sticky so not recommended, but nothing rusted

I took the floor out of my Hiace. Trouble was anything loose in the back started to scratch the paintwork.

Totally agree with you Gold. I might not bother with protectakote next time. The only advantage I find is it's grippy as opposed to the plain paint of the van.

Allso if you have mats, ply or similar and spring a leak it'll take ages to dry out unless you remove them.

paint they use in swimming pools, dont know how much a pot is though but defo water proof
