Does anyone know the approximate value of the domestic window cleaning market in the UK?

I would love to know how much is spent on window cleaning each year in the UK...

Hard to say but a stab at it is:
15 million homes.  20% have a window cleaner.  So 3 million homes.  All different sizes and regions so an average cleaning cost of £18.  Average number of cleans per year - - say 6.

So 6 x £18 = £108 per year.

£108 x 3 million = £324 million.

Probably way off the mark but it's probably as good a figure as any.

However, that is just the cost of the cleaning.  The knock on effect with purchasing equipment (ladders, vehicles, poles, pumps, hoses, reels, scrim, microfibre, squeegees, filters, water tanks, insurance policies, breakdown recovery policies, work for garages, water bills, work for accountants) etc etc may take that figure somewhere near Dave's 2 billion.  In fact, maybe 2 billion is a bit conservative.

It really is so hard to name a number and trust it.

I was thinking more of just the domestic market value, as a canvasser I would say its higher than 20% that have a cleaner and an average of more like £10. If there are 15 million households and 50% have a cleaner then makes it a 750 million a year industry....

Pretty major if those figures are to be believed.....

i;d reckon the national average was less than even this.  if you are talking about average price for clean it up members, you're probably not far off...

but if you think of all the non business minded WCs out there doing houses for £5 mark, and of course prices in parts of the north and scotland...

The average includes these low cost jobs but then you have to consider the more expensive regions, anywhere south of say Northampton will average over £10 I would think but even if you drop it to 8 it would still be around the 600 million mark. Will have to do some more research...

With some of the minimum prices banded around on here I'd say that was earned by each of us
