hi im thinking of starting a commercia cleaning and carpet and upholstery cleaning business in the essex region, just looking for advise on.
 
Where to get training?
Is a yellow pages ad worth it?
What is the going rate for commercial cleaners? 
How do you price up carpet cleaning whats the going rate in this region?

Y/P Yell.com   personal preferance ive had no luck with them but some have best form of advertising leaflets and referals
Prices              Charge by the metre squared, on commercial £1 - £2.50 sqm but domestics are the way to go (yes £1 sqm ive been known to clean at 80p but 1000sqm in a day at 80p mmmmmmm)

I was going to avoid answering this post, but knowing the kind of replies you are likely to get, changed my mind.


How well you do in this industry will be determined, to a great extent, by the character and personality of the individual.

There are people in  service industries who are incredibly knowledgable, or grafters, or well resourced, but can't run a business and often fail.

I always suggest that anyone considering this business, should start by purchasing an inexpensive machine, to learn the basics and find out, if you are suited to the work involved.

If you approach suppliers, they will all offer a basic ' hands on ' training when you purchase a machine, many offer training separately and the charges are very reasonable.

I would just like to add if you  have another source of income ,hang on to it till you become established ,this is a extremly competitive market to come into so burning all your bridges at first would not be advisable.
