PLEASE HELP. Oven Clean

Hi All
I need help.
I bought a new oven 6 months ago. Every time we use it, it smokes to the point where the smoke alarms go off and it makes our eyes sting. We have cleaned this out with Mr Muscle oven cleaner but find the results are the same. This is not a self clean oven but have found that even expensive ovens are not self clean for some reason.
Is this a fault of the manufactor or is there something we can do, i.e clean it some other way, a different cleaner or spray it with a special liner.
All comments would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Hello Steve I clean ovens, its hard work, you must make sure you thoroughly clean the whole of the inside. Using the strongest cleaner you can get, with a metal scourer, a lot of elbow grease, you can do the job. Make sure you only apply the cleaner to the stainless steel and enameled surfaces, NOT plastic, aluminium or powder coated surfaces. Or you can pay around £35+VAT to have it cleaned by someone with a dip tank, industrial strength chemicals and get as good as new oven. Mick

Hi Steve,
Take my advice m8, pay the going rate (£35 for single...£45 for double oven here in Northern Ireland anyway) and get a professional in to clean your oven.
Not all companies clean the same way, but I would remove any panels (self clean or not!) inside the oven, the fan as well if it's a fan assisted oven..along with all the silver trays etc..these would go into the dip tank for a wee while, then the inside of your oven(s) would get thougherly deep cleaned. Removing the panels allows the areas behind the panels to be cleaned, often where the past three years dinner remains would be lurking!! often the cause of the smell/smoke.
The end result can be nothing short of amazing, after that, depending on how often you would use your oven get it cleaned once or twice a year to keep on top of it!! Sorted.

Thanks for your replies. This oven is only 6 months old and we do clean it a lot, this is what makes me think that its down to the manufactor for the way the oven will smoke.
Is this unusual for something not so old and not really used a great deal or is it really down to a bit more elbow grease.
Also if I do clean myself is there a better cleaner that Mr Muscle?

Does the smell/smoke only come when one oven being used...if it's a fan assisted oven you might have something sitting between the heating element at the rear of the oven and the panel which covers the fan.
If you are in any doubt m8, I would get an electrician out to check it. It might be an electrical wiring fault it might not, but better to be safe than sorry.
If you take it back to wherever you bought it and they find some non-cooker related problem they'll slap you for a large bill and have a good laugh at your expense too.
Good luck with it.

Thanks for your help fellas
I will give the oven 1 last really intense clean and then see if it smokes. If it still smokes after that then I will get a pro in to clean it. If its still no good then at least I have proof that its not down to the cleaning.
Still let me know if there is any good oven cleaner out there.
Cheers

Hi M8
I come across this problem a lot. Have a look at the roof of your oven, they tend to get really bad and for those of us in our business (yes, I am a professional oven cleaner!!) the roofs can genuinely be far worse than the sides or back, especially if you do a lot of roasts. Not that I am biased
but I would get a professional in (£35 for N. Ireland for a single oven whereas in Gloucestershire I charge £40).
