Word on the street is that part time contracts are to be changed from 16 hours to 24 hours.

I employ a lad part time but have not been formally made aware of this, neither has he.

Can anyone shed any light on this matter?

no  sure about that but there have been changes recently on temp workers now if anyone is employed more than 12 weeks by you they are entitled to all the benefits as someone employed all year
where temp staff maybe taken on in peak season employed more than 12 weeks they are entitled to sick / holidy pay etc etc
