How underhand is this?advice welcome
« on: February 07, 2012, 08:58:50 pm »
My wife got a call last week from a regular custie  to say she just had someone knock at her door saying i had fallen off ladders [ im wfp] and wont be cleaning anymore and would she like them to start doing them.

She said no thanks and rang me to see if it was true.

I guessed straight away who it might be
I cleaned this house yesterday and all the others close by,turns out this guy has knocked them all in this rd  with the same story.
Turns out my guess was correct, they are quite a big company round here but employ some real characters.
My 1st instinct was to ring the company but ive decided against it cos i think this guys doing more harm than good to his own employers by going around telling lies.

What do you think? comments please.

The way I would see it if you don't speak to the company then they might not know what he is up to. I had a guy undercutting me a few years ago from a big firm in the area. So I decided to go round a few of their customers and pinch some of their work. One day the owner phoned me kicking off, I explained if he keeps sending his lads to pinching my work I'd do the same. Turned out the lad was knicking work off me to clean on the side. The guy got sacked and I got given a few jobs of the owner of the firm!

A similar thing happened to me a few years ago, only the guy was telling my customers that I had given up window cleaning.

Thing is, my customers knew me well enough to know that I wouldn't do this without telling them first, so he was sent away with a flea in his ear! Never saw him and never lost any customers over it.

I would tell your customers what is going on, but let the company find out for themselves what a numpty they are employing.

I had one guy who went to my customers saying he would clean them cheaper than me, so I phoned him up and said carry on and I will target your customers and offer to clean their windows for free.

He asked some people who we both know and they confirmed I would do something like that. ;D

he packed up ;D

The bloke is almost certainly working on the side. A little word to his boss might be all thats needed.

You'd want to know

I'd pop into their office hopefully when this idiot is also there and ask him to explain himself in front of his boss.

I dont actually know WHO it was, i just guessed correctly as it turned out which company was likely to employ such a moron.
The best part is  im picking up loads of new work i got 2 today asked me to start, next door to each other on a rd ive been doing for about 6 years, strange that.
It might just have something to do with all of this.
