how to get a brush off a gooseneck?

i;m really struggling to get my old brush head off my gooseneck to get my new gardiner brush on.  any tips?  :-[

have you tried placing under very hot water, that usualy does the trick, mind and have 2 damp cloths handy to twist it of

i was twisting it the wrong way!  i hate it when that happens  :-[
