dates of cleans
« on: January 30, 2012, 06:53:18 pm »
As I get new customers,do you clean then do them again say exactly 4 weeks and give them a day or do you just turn up randomly 4 weeks later?
Also what's the best way do you inform customers your coming a few days before or just turn up? I was thinking if you inform them they may give you that not today crap?

Just turn up. Say you will be back in X weeks after you have finished.

I only phone ahead on 3 properties and these are all gated 6+ bed places.

Well im no expert as Ive only just started and was asking the same things not so long ago! But anyway just turn up in 4 weeks time but obviously if its raining you go the next available day. If theres issues with access you may have to contact the customer the day before, but if no problems just turn up, clean and bill them if nobody present. Hope this helps, but its your round so do it your way  :)

DONT GIVE THEM A NEXT CLEAN DATE!!as you invariably find that weather and other things get in the way sometimes.its far more flexible to just turn up and clean roughly every 4 weeks/a month.that way your not putting pressure on yourself to get round on that day.

its much better not to from my experience(18 years window cleaning!) ;D ;D ;D ;D
price higher/work harder!

Just randomly turn up, only book in the jobs where customers specificly ask, or for access issues.

-If you book every job in, then how can you take random days off if need be... id feel like i was working for someone else

if you allocate all your work into say 4 days you would get 1 day a week off,so you work Mon, Tues,Wed,Thur.
then, Friday sat,and Sunday off.of course this depends on your work load,if it rains on Monday you just move everything along, just an idea.

I just tell them four weeks give or take a day or two, text or call only the ones with locked gates/security.

I work on a 4 weekly basis, so the next clean is booked for 4 weeks later, I never put a job down on a certain day unless i have too, for instance i have one customer who works nights, but has wednesdays off, so i always turn up on a wednesday.

her previous cleaner didn't take this onboard and turned up when it suited him, so now i have the £20 job and he has more time to enjoy life ;D

I have always phoned or texted the night before and yes you will get some who say not this time please, I don't mind the odd one, but if they start to say it more often then I dump them.

By doing this I make more money, I have a lot of jobs where you need the householder to be in or to know you are coming so they can leave the gate open and money under the pot.

I tell them it's a 4 weekly service, weather permitting, sometimes I may be a little late and sometimes I can be abit early,eg,if I they are due to be cleaned mon and I get rained off mon + tues ,the next time they are due to be cleaned I will clean their windows on the monday(2 days early)if they moan I am early I tell them I was late last time, and tell them not to worry they wont get cleaned more than 13 times in the year.

I email them a week before saying I am coming on x day weather permitting. 2 weeks out of the month we do 4 day weeks and if one of those day it rains we just move the day along. My mate designed a programme that emails everyone for you.
What is good is that I always say if there is anything else that needs doing like gutters, driveway, insides etc please just let me know.
Every week I get at least 2 extra jobs and keeps the client knowning all the jobs we can do.

This is what is automatically sent:

Dear

I thought you'd like to know when you are next booked in for our services.

Job: Outside windows, --TUESDAY, 31/1/2012

I do hope that this is convenient for you, and please let me know in the meantime if there is anything that needs attention before then.

Best regards,

Will Sherfield

We also clean: Patios, driveways, conservatories and gutters.
