Wondering the same. Reluctant to give free cleans, but if it works...

when doing your first cleans and they are minging do you ever think as you go from 1 window to the next that you are being taken for a ride . i know i do from time to time because you use a serious amount of water and can firk your day up. im always wary but pleasantly surprised when i get to do them a few times. i did my sisters boss windows who has lots of money 6 weeks ago but everytime i try to do them for the second time i can never get around the back i leave text messages / notes also ring and not even a reply . takes the pish cause i used a third of a tank getting her windows looking anything like they should (totally minging) and charged her 20 i look back now and think i must of been mental . you lose trust. they think oh hes only a window cleaner

we charge them full price if we cant get around the back.  the first time it happens, we charge half and warn them, and after that charge them full price.  there are some clients who pay us in full every month, and we literrally have only cleaned the backs once or twice.  it certainly takes the sting out!

Yep ... along lines of

Do you know anyone who needs a window cleaner ? Introduce a new customer and get a free clean.

Their Name and Number ..................................................................................................

Gets me about 20 ish new customers a year and 99% of time local to the current customer.

Never been stung but dropped all the dross / messers ages ago and proper customers tend to know proper potential customers.

Also good for getting to customers you normally wouldnt like the old people and ladies that live alone as this group of people wont respond to leaflets or people canvassing at door.

The £16 bimonthly typical of the above description an old lady living on her own HOWEVER shes a wily old girl because as she handed me the payment she said "so if I intoduce a new customer I get a clean for free do I ??

Yes Mrs Jones you do.

"Right my disabled daughter lives at blah blah road and she needs a window cleaner, Ive just rang her and she says can u do them next job ??"

On me way now says I ....... great she says so can I have my £16 back then ............  ;D ;D ;D

explained she gets next clean free

but hey another customer joining the merry throng that is H2o  ;)

Its a case of sussing out the customer and trusting your instinct ........ if you get a feeling that they be taking you for a ride just charge double for 1st clean or even treble however weve all been caught out at one time or another ... comes with the job unfortunately.
