Best brush for leaded
« on: January 27, 2012, 04:47:06 pm »
I have recently started cleaning a house that has brand new leaded windows.

The owner doesn't work, (seriously cashed up) and he spends all the time I am there telling me how much he has paid to restore his house.

I was cleaning today and he was moaning about the brush banging on the lead, I told him I would look into brushes and which is good on lead.

I currently use a Gardiners super lite dual trimmed.

Has anybody used a Tecbuk natural bristle, if so what are they like..

It is all about the way you clean mate i dont use a soft brush . I clean upstairs windows from the side like you would over an awkward conny roof.        And for the downstairs i turn the brush so the pole is on its side so to speak so the pole is horizontal rather than vertical and it barely catches the lead .  MIKE

I've got a Tecbuk boars hair which I like a lot, it certainly doesn't bang the frames as much as my other brushes. Richard does several bristle lengths for the boars hair, talk to him about which one would be best.
I have the long hair one.

It's also good to follow the diagonal strips of lead with the brush, brush in the direction the lead is laid, not across it but with it

Tecbuc dual trim goes over the lead with ease - no bounce ( this is the red one ) but the stock is much harder and
until you are used to using the brush there is a real danger of whacking the framework ( this will be worse than bouncing on the lead )

however the new DT brush heads from gardiners are far better than the older all white ones with little to no bounce

Sounds to me like you are using the monofilament version (white one) , you could do with the flocked version (black one).
