Got an old slx 30 with the saddle clamps (mark 2?) Top clamp is now slipping and cant be tightened anymore no 2 is not far behind either. Will the clamp kit from Gardiners fit/sort this, or is the kit just for broken clamps?

Probably should have just rang gardiners but your answers/ opinions would be appreciated.

My MKI slx had the original metal clamps. I upgraded after a couple of years to the newer plastic ones & it was like a new pole!

So yes, I'm pretty sure you'll get more life out of the sections if you buy the upgrade kit.

It should work, both the outside of the poles and the inside of the clamps wear with use, so a new clamp will be able to take up the slack, at least for a while.

With the old brodex poles we used to fit the clamps with shims and that would give them a few extra months of life.

The newer clamps also work a different way & you have to cut the old clamps off which gets rid of the gap in the carbon tube (if it's the MKI).

I told you this ages ago to upgrade your clamps, and while you have the pole apart its probably worth turning the sections around and putting the clamps on what was the bottom of the pole.

The kit includes replacement clamp bodies and lever assemblies for all of the sections on your old pole along with instructions on how to fit them. You will be surprised just how much the new set of clamps will improve the performance and usability of the pole.

Alex, if ever you get bored sitting back counting all that hard earned, would you have a go at designing a way of delivering tfr up high, at the moment I am losing more than I am using.

We do need something, I tried last year to convert an old pole but couldnt work out the trigger and hose.

I reckon that I am losing at least half of the soap in the wind.

Hopefully he will knock something up that fits on the poles, or at least a dedicated soap pole.

Alex, if ever you get bored sitting back counting all that hard earned, would you have a go at designing a way of delivering tfr up high, at the moment I am losing more than I am using.

I did make up a pole/head assembly for a local window cleaner who wanted to spray chemicals on a regular basis. Basically this was a pole with a Resi-Neck on the top which I also fitted a 'reach-around' to and then drilled out the 'reach-around' and fitted with a single fanjet. He then uses a backpack solely for his chemical mix and connects this pole to the backpack. This arrangement allows him to adjust the angle of the spray pattern and being just one single fanjet is not too wasteful. This could easily be done as a DIY project -just needs a hole drilling.

HI Guys do you want this trf applicator to fit on you pole that you would be working with the brush on maybe \I can knock something up. Do you spray the TRF and then brush it or do you spray the total gutter then brush it to clean it and rinse at the same time.

You could run the hose on the out side of the pole and do as Alex said and use elgar silicon hose to carry the water up this pole hose and use a garden irrigation tap which you can wellcrow on the pole.so you you can remove it when need be.

Thanks for the ideas boys, but I have already done all of that.

What I want is to work out the trigger mechanism and hose. At the moment I have a pole with a nozzle on the end and the hose threaded like a normal wfp. That is the easy bit.

The trouble with that is that I need two hands to hold the pole and another one to operate the trigger.

My latest idea is to take an old pole and cut a slot in the base section, so that when it is extended the hose will pull the trigger into the slot at the base where I can operate it with both hands on the pole. I would need to use that pole at full length for that idea to work, but that is not a prob as I have several pumps and short lances as well.

I will get round to it in the spring when it is a bit lighter in the shed.
