Does anyone know the correct method of administering this stuff?.....and does it work to the extent that it totaly nuetralises flooded carpet stench??

I dont know the details of the flooded carpet but there is more to it than using a product on the carpet. The area concerned needs to be completely dried out. That includes any building materials such as floors and walls. Only when this is achieved will it be possible to remedy the carpet. This will need treating, cleaning and again completely dried.

Don't know about you but I think that lots of Carpet Cleaners think that Flood work means, sucking up the water and walking away!!

not me.....thats why I'm asking...obviosly, the bacteria that causes the stench remains untill treared..never used clensan before...just wondered how its applied..IE:does the underlay have to be treated too?...is it applied by a sprayer

Never implide that was you, you have asked. I would say uplift carpet and padding, treat floor with an antimicrobal and dry.What typ of water has the carpet had on it, Black, Grey or White??.

When I was doing flood work I cannot ever remember drying and cleaning a carpet, I always wrote the carpet off and replaced.

Problems steming from Flood work can start to rear their ugly head six months after the flood if the correct procedures are not followed.

Clensan is just sprayed on the carpet an left, no need to extract. its worked for me on old peoples home with Urine.

I just thought that if the underlay got wet, you would need to uplift, to dry that too....would suggest changing the carpet, but why...when I get payed for trying..

Hi,

The important thing to remember when using cleansan is that it contains a cationic species that is NOT compatable with most cleaning agents.

You can never use a cationic and anionic type agents together.  The main reason for this is that you would make a thing i like to call shunk.  Shunk being a cross between two well known bodily fluids.  Im sure you can imagine what shunk looks like so ill stop there.

Most cleaning c0cktails designed for the C&U industry use a mixture on non-ionic and anionic surfactants.  Hence, they are not compatable with cleansan and convieniently Prochem make a c0cktail that contains only non-ionic surfactants (CrystalGreen).

So if you need to clean the carpet, my advice is:
Prespray with a non ionic cleaning agent
Rinse with appropriate neutralising agent and cleansan in tank.

I get the feeling that cleansan isnt compatable with MS, but im not sure so dont quote me on that.

Trafficlean is almost certainly anionic .

I'm not sure Prochem do a non ionic prespray, you could always use a more concentrated solution of Crystal Green as a prespray.

christal green is a powder, which I have a tub of...that has never been used...isnt it  something which goes in the machine rather than in the pre-spray tank...dont understand...can you  elaborate...thanks

In simple terms Crystal green is an extraction "detrgent" so used in high concentration it can be used as a prespray

And there you have non ionic prespray

Right ok..I get ya...We were never taught this stuff at training....they should make the courses a bit longer and more comprehensive methinks...thanks  for that...I got a use for the stuff at last !  because it seems to be crap as a detergent

Just a suggestion, but maybe you should give that there power  a try.
I used to use Prochem Extraction Pro untill I tried Crystal Green.
Never looked back.
