window cleaners disappearing
« on: January 23, 2012, 09:51:17 pm »
as said above, they are disappearing not turning up again, people approaching me more often now with this same situation, although i must say, they have been way under cutting themselves, i ask a few of them what the charged them, 3 quid  even less with some of them, told them my minimum is 8 quid and up, so just goes to show you, those w/c who under cut you, do not last, even those on benefits.

Got to say , i see it myself , they come on here and have a scout , see the potential to earn , then go out and spend spend spend to look good , go cheap and then wonder why it goes pear shaped when they cant afford the repayments on the gear , ok some people make it , but a lot dont !

It's probably because they realize that it's as dull as dish water.

Did i make it , well yes in a way , i was way too cheap in the early days , still am in some respects , but having not long come out of the second van dream , i have learnt , its not about the amount of work you have , its the quality of it , i recently built my own database (too tight to pay for George) and it became clear that i had way too much on the books for me alone and not enough well paying work to keep 2 workers lucrative enough to warrant the cost of a second person.
My goal now is to make my work well paid for the hours i do .
I just gave my brother 2.5k of work on the never ,never to free my books a bit .

I am now left with more work with a better return , as opposed to shed loads of work with an ok return .

For instance , i used to go out and do 7 hours of graft for £150 , today i did 4 hours for £125 .

I suppose the point of my story is , if your going to clean windows , price high and get it right from the start , as opposed to being cheap and ruining long established w/c's income , and your own !

That is well said !!
If you want to work long and successfully, you have to have the price right, if you are making £125 a day from 9 to 5, it may sound a good income... but what about your fuel, insurance, car expenses, liability insurance, NI insurance, tool replacement, investing in new gear, doing some marketing, and so on... and if you think to employ someone, and if you thinking of employing....
