If you've got 100m of hose out then take the end of the hose with you back to the van, this means you are in effect pulling on 50m of hose instead of 100m.

....... my biggest decision every day is whether I can be bothered to take the ferrari out or not! And believe it or not 9 times out of 10 it stays at home, but I've had it for 2 1/2 years now anyway so novelty has slightly worn off!!!!!

1 thing I will say is even tho window cleaning gave me a ferrari at just passed 30 and lots of time off work and lkovely holidays, I still feel ashamed to say we clean windows

Don't know excactly how many but do know I do enough to keep the Ferrari running!!!!!

Stick to your fords, I run a connect 60 reg, a fiesta van 55 reg and an 11 reg transit......the Ferrari is second choice to the transit everytime as its so much nicer to drive!

As I said elsewhere, I do wonder if he's compensating for a lack of... well, you know...

Doesn't bother me lifting the reel in and out the van or winding it back in keeps me fit ;D

Wait till you're 48.  If you are, credit to you.

Im 49, dont bother me. What does it weigh, 10 kilos?

I lift two of them in and out; 'cos I'm a gent; and Wor Lass is knocking and collecting.  ;D

most of us have the lighter poles(slx, clxs)light brushes, microbore hose,no climbing up to every upper window on a ladder to clean it,lightweight reels.how easy does this job get compared to trad? ;D ;D ;D ;D

i have no problems winding a bit of hose in a few times a day.i must admit with a lot of compact work i dont need to reel in more than 3 times a day most days.sometimes more depending on work.

im 40 and keep myself reasonably fit.could do with losing a few more pounds but i will as the xmas pounds are nearly off now!

those who want to mess about with drills then its their business.its not for me as i keep my system as simple as possible and i work speedy and efficiently most days and im well organized. ;) ;D ;D
price higher/work harder!

just leave reel in the van, no lifting in and out, and easier to reel

Case closed just cause you and Mick say so even though you have never used one. It wouldn't be so simple if I was driving off down the road while you were still reeling in. Fact is I like it, I think it makes my day easier and a little faster. What you and your sidekick think is really of no relevance as you don't know your arse from your elbow in this matter.

I bet there was a guy like you about when the weel was invented -

Narr, it'll never work. I'm happy with my Italian donkey don't ya know. Why bother, it's easier to carry everything.

I would like an electric reel personally.

For me its the extra strain i am putting on my left arm each job. Say you wind in on average 10 times per day, 4 days per week, 45 weeks per year

Thats 1800 times a year you are reeling in per year.

Over a 10 year period, thats 180,000 times you reel in which in my opinion has got to put some strain on your reeling in arm you have to admit.

Although thinking about it, its not just the reeling in that will put a strain on your body, but where the reel is.

If its on the floor you bend down

If its in the van you lean in (i know i do)

Personally im keeping my eye on the electric reel threads. I find them interesting and save the details. My next van (which i hope to get this year) will be perfectly set up for me !

The plan is to have a frame in the back to not only fix the tank down, but to hold everything else in so it is secure but easily removable. I plan to fix an electric reel of some sort on a frame that slides out of the van at the perfect height for me to not have to bend / twist / lean and that can me changed over to a manual handle should it need to be.

For those of you that think an electric reel is a stupid idea i ask you this (which may not apply to all, but will some)

Why go from trad to wfp ? why buy the lightest equipment you can ?

Im pretty sure your answer to that one will be for you health / safety / ease the strain of equipment.

I know bid you goodnight
Only those who risk going too far will truly know how far they can actually go

didn't like Ferraris, I couldn't get comfortable in it. ill stick with me little old DB 9 I think.....  ;D  8)

I do like the idea of electric reel, definitely has its pros. but if it's not for you, so be it. keeps the blood pumping reeling in by hand anyway!

I don't like ferraris either.

I may have a look at knocking up an electric hose reel in the spring when I re fit the van.
if it is dirty it is fair game
