Is My Web Site Outdated ? ?
« on: January 19, 2012, 06:15:16 pm »
Hi members, just wondered what your views and opinions are on this.
I called in at a local web site designer company today and  asked them
Their opinion of my web site and how it could be improved in order to
Generate me some more `leads`etc.
After looking at it,they said it was old fashioned and out of date and that
Was the reason I was`nt getting any enquiries. It also was`nt getting picked
Up on `Google .
This is what they have offered me.

A 3 page template solution.
Template design of 3 pages.
Static Image Banner.(Creating visual Impact)
Website Editor (Compatible with Macs`and PC`s )
Purchasing Professional Stock Images ( Lifetime Licenced)
Customer Feed Back Form or Contract Form.
2 MB Download Space for PDF`s etc.
Location Map
Dedicated Customer Account Manager            £199. 95p plus VAT

Monthly Fee £11.74p plus VAT ( Covers Domain Renewal,Hosting,E,Mail,
Backups,CMS and unlimited support )

My website is    www.gleemclean.co.uk

Thanks in advance for replies.

Your site looks fine to me. A new website won't generate more leads any more than this one. There are tricks to get any website found easier. Start by registering your details on all free listings, yell.com, tompsonlocal, google etc. The more things you are on, the easier you are to find. My website cost me about 5 evenings and then 7 a month for webhosting!

Try using fast hosts . I did one for previous business. Pay per month give it a go... Cheap and if it dont work re change it....... if you can use word you can make one pretty cheap.

i done one using simple template and played around with it, good luck
gary ;)

It may look a bit more stylish than yours, but it hasn't been constructed any better than yours.
It has a pointless <title> no <description> no <keywords> tags built in to the code. Also, it doesn't show on google for 'transport yorkshire' or 'car delivery yorkshire', which I would assume is what they would like to be found for.
With a few tweeks, that you can do yourself, to your site it could rank on google.

Their site design is pony and that's why they are only charging you 199. I would expect to pay a good bit more for a nicely designed site

Not wrong.

My new site isn't costing fortunes, but a good designer is a good designer, and can make something every basic look good.

I know a good graphic designer too which helps...

knowing you it is peanuts, and then you will have screwed them down

to keep on post, if you think this is good for the price your nuts,

they hide an email address thinking they are good, here is the seo or lack of it, have a look there is little to see Lewis,
talking about a company name is a fail straight away unless it is generic, it may damage a companies pride but they need to hear this as it will not help them, needle/haystack comes to mind.:
at the start look at the title of this site, clearly done by someone that does not have a clue about what they are doing, look at the keywords, then the description, if you dont know this company then it will not rank at all, then there is the text and a whole host of other thigns that are missing that are basic things, dude what ever you do, do not use this company, they may make a site that looks nice, nice sites do not make money trust me, sites that work in serach engines make money!!! this will not, take my advice or not is your choice, please respect I do know a little about what I am talking about, I did text you and would have shown you these errors step by step so you did not get taken for a ride, I respect you turned this down, thats cool :)

Have a look, this is done by a designer not a person that knows how a website will convert

a website can be a great tool for your business but if people can't find your site or if its poorly designed you might not get the custom.

im just getting a one page site done at the moment its nearly done just a few things need doing then im hoping it will go live next week  ;D

Window Washers is correct, they've not even mentioned submitting your site to any search engines.  There's very little wrong with your current site either.
