Its one of the tougher things about this job. People could easily think you are soft for thinking it but you really do see all sorts. Most of my customers are elderly which doesn't help but the toughest thing for me personally is when  you go and they are fine, chatty etc. Then you go back a few weeks later and the neighbour tells you what has happened in the mean time.
One old boy, I thought it was really sad, used to grow tomatoes in grow bags on his patio, after he had gone the tomatoes were still there growing on his patio.

Sorry to hear your loss, can't imagine going through that. Getting older scares me sometimes.

Two of my customers died over Christmas. One was very sudden, he was fit as anything when I saw him early December. He had just washed his car and was turning the soil over in his flowebeds. I have another who was doing great but went really senile very quickly, literally in two weeks went from fine to not knowing who he is or where he's going etc.
It's a reminder to me to enjoy myself more.

older has nothing to do with it mate sadly, cancer with take anyone at any age if it wants to, I really feel for people like this as I know what they are going through.

I have had cancer a few times myself, in stomach and skin cancer

I lost my little neice to this at three years old a few years back, that was a very hard time for all the family watching hopeless as it ravaged her tiny little body then at the end hoping that she would let go (thats trurmatises me today with the guilt of wishing a baby to die), still brings tears to my eyes now, bless her.

I hope anyone that reads this and is or has gone through this all the luck in the world,
My advice for this would be to talk to someone/ anyone bottling it up is not a good.

I remember all the guys on here that helped me, I will never forget that and you all know who you are  :)

Sad post this

I to, had a few customers die to cancer last year.
The one that stands out to me though, was a woman i remember from my school days, taken ill and died within 5 days, leaving a husband & 2 children, she was only 45.
Some rare kind of blood cancer.
We dont realise how lucky we are, when all we have to worry about is bad paying custies  ;D

Started cleaning a bungalow and the man comes out and pays me, odd as I usually knock.

Turns out his missus cancer has come out of remission and his words were "Shes at the departure lounge..." which made me feel bad as I was stood there ear-phones in and cleaning windows. All the curtains were drawn and the family were all round.

Said not to be daft and she would be grateful for my wishes, life goes on and looks forward to seeing me next time.

SO sad seing anyone terminally ill, you do get attached to customers.

Sorry to hear Daz bout your wife, hope she gets her strength up and goes well.

Life as we know it is so fragile, and sadly i think we all probably take it for granted.
