I had a call earlier today asking to quote a 3 bed, so I got details and set off.  I arrived at the address only to find it was a window cleaners house compete with sign written van in the drive. I knocked the door, with no reply so i came home.

Do you guys think it was someone trying to get me and the other windy at war?

dont give it a second thought, if it happens again then i would confront the windy to find out whats going on. but he maybe doesnt know anything about it!

try and forget it . a year ago i got caught out with a caller who got me to clean and then when i called to collect a terribly disfigured woman opened the door,and was annoyed id cleaned with no permission.

one laughed and said no m8 im also a windie , his missus shouted in the background  "ill have you do em cause he never does and hes crap"

his face was purple at this point , so i smiled and left. still see him about and smile lol

I had one a couple of months ago. I had a phone call from a lady asking me to pressure wash her driveway. An exact time and date was agreed. I turned up exactly on time, only to find she was in the process of doing it herself. When I asked if she was the person who phoned me, she denied any knowledge. I wouldn't have minded, but it was a 50 mile round trip!

I have met loads of cleaners while knocking and they normally react well, most dont clean in their own area anyway.... I have had a couple of cleaners wives that were not happy though, they seem to take it more personally....

Yes but you have to be a bit careful, if he wanted to be malicious the window cleaner could say you have been round his house making threats. Or he could just punch you on the nose, perfect way of getting away with it. Hows it going to look when YOU get punched on HIS doorstep. Its always going to look like you went round there and started it.

Maybe the home owner was getting quotes from numerous windys and you turned up when another windy was quoting him and they were around the back looking at the windows with the home owner discussing a price therefore there was no answer as they could'nt hear the bell / knocker as they were outside,don't jump to conclusions as the phone call probobly was a genuine one

had a custy phone me up once to do a EOIT clean on con and windows,  got there and there was a other wc allrady doing it,  asked custy,  asked a few incase some didnt turn up

al lady asked me to quote her house the other day,i turned up and there was another windy there giving her the quote she tried to call me to stop me comming but i arrived at her door as she had the phone in her hand.
she said hello where are you i said at your door she sais poop i got 1 now.
why bloody phone if you dont want the quote grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
didnt even bother just let the bloke have the job'
