'Spot clean' pricing?
« on: January 17, 2012, 10:05:07 am »
Hi, I've been asked to quote a school and worked out the outside price, but they want a quote for just 'spot cleaning' or removing fingermarks, marks etc. for insides. Any ideas on pricing for this compared to outsides?  ???

First I've heard of 'spot cleaning'; sounds silly to me; but it sounds like a license to do a shoddy job.

Go in cheap if you want the job.

Same here ???.......but it will take you longer than just straight cleaning.
Ask the customer to be more specific about the spot cleaning and to write down exactly which interiors need looking at.

It's OK to quote for spot cleaning IMO if it is being carried out along with a regular service - e.g. weekly outside cleans plus weekly spot cleaning inside with a full clean every few weeks.  However, with a school, it's likely that it is cleaned at much less frequent intervals (often 3 times a year during end of term breaks).  Therefore, I would say that the interior windows are not really appropriate for spot cleaning.  Even if you did this, the infrequent intervals would mean that there are so many spots to clean, you might as well do a full clean anyway.
If they want to save money, maybe the way forward is to offer 3 times a year on the outside and once a year inside.  It probably wouldn't cost them as much as 3 inside spot cleans.

You cant really "spot clean" glass anyway. Think about it...you clean a dirty hand print off a window by microfibre and spray, as soon as the sun gets on that window you have a porthole where you have cleaned and dust/dirt all around it. I would be obliging but say they need to pick all the windows they want cleaning as you need to clean the whole window. price it from there.

spray?????

GLASS SPRAY/PURE WHATEVER YOUR PREFERRED POISON IS. THE REASON I SAID SPRAY IS BECAUSE IT WAS MENT TO BE "SPOT" CLEANING AND IF YOUR GONNA TRAD IT YOU MIGHT AS WELL DO THE WHOLE WINDOW.

put in same price,  they want you just to do the really dirty windows,  to save money

try cleaning only half the window on your house and have a look at difference

I agree, another way would be to over inflate the external clean at a higher price so the spot clean sounds good, but really it is what you would charge anyway, and the bonus is you only need to clean the windows with marks on.

IMO though spot cleaning is for work that is done really regular, not schools
