My best way of picking up new custys at the moment is a leaflet with the price on and a section that says please add 3-5 for a consirvitory depending on size. I find i pick up alot of houses this way,i have my brother do 7 hours a week. Had a call the otherday from a chap eps window cleaning started mouthing of that his custy had one of my flyers and i was way to cheap and i need to sort myself out me also tried to say i was sone wannabee i told him to beep of. Anyway a week later one of the local cleaners told me he has put all his houses up by alot 15 even for your average 6 to 8 quiders. We luve in a very small town and there are 40 windies that i know of so in my opinion he has a bad attitude! I have never targeted anyones jobs i leaflet absolutly every house in my area so its not personal, anyone on.hear exsperienced anything like this ?

If I were you I wouldn't worry about it. You aren't deliberately targetting his customers, and if you are dropping leaflets, or even door knocking, you will inevitably meet people who already have a window cleaner. If his customers are happy with him, they will stick with him.

A funny thing happened to me last week. A young chap came up to me and said he was the local window cleaner, and said he did all the houses on the estate. I said I had picked up a few and was doing them, but was not looking to take any work away from him, but was merely targeting those who needed a window cleaner, but didn't have one.

He then said he would have a word with the other guy who does the windows (?) and said he would tell him to get lost so I could do the estate! The penny dropped that he was just checking me out. I told him not to do that as I repeated that I wasn't looking to take another man's work. He then shook my hand and off he went!

the bloke is moaning as lost work,  the one who said he put up all his prices by loads and still kept them is hoping you put all yours up and lose some

its called business,  if you make enough for what you do  then great,  these are probably the same wc who brag about what they earn down the pub then moan when new people start

I agree it's not nice, but it's usually someone who is doing a poor job and is worried that he's lost the monopoly in his locality that resort to such bully boy tactics. When you stand up to them you can be surprised how they can melt away.

if your going in top cheap it can be annoying, but our customers are loyal as they trust us and like our service, so even when cheaper people come along were ok.

just try to have your prices right, as you are only shooting yourself in the foot otherwise. and if this other cleaner(s) is/are reliable and doing a good job he/they shouldn't have a problem.

if your leafleting the whole area with cheap prices on your leaflets then your bound to get the odd nasty phone call!!it goes with the job sometimes.

most customers will not jump ship if they are happy with their current window cleaner even if you are cheaper.the ones that call you with threats are usually rubbish cleaners with not enough work and not legit in my experience!!

I know that i am reasonable priced around my area, infact im a little dearer than most, why because one you cant get targeted for under cutting and two you dont need to put your prices up so many times as the econnomy rises, and lose customers by saying "why the price going up again". Im sure youve had it from time to time.

My customers are happy with my prices so, i will always be competative with the market even when my the prices go up, so no under cutting goes on. Maybe its one to think about when you look at your own prices.

As they Say Get what you pay for. But there are some good windys out there that are alot cheaper priced, and do a great job.

Thanks for the coments guys i price my work so i am doing between 25 to 30 an hour. Iv never realy spoken to anyone else about pricing so im not sure on prices to be honest il give some examples small 2 bed house with a consirv 10 to 13 depending on size. A small two bed detached or semi beween 6 and 8 quid, then on large propertys i go a pound a window then drop a few quid for example 25 30 windows id charge bowt 20 25 what are u guys making an hour i work 9 till 1 with a break and do about £120

Look to charging 11 to 15 for a four bed.

I am the best in my area so I charge more than most and keep customer happy with service. My advice be confident and charge.I am not here for my health.You get customer you attract,go cheap and get cheep skates.
