Hello guys (and girls),

I usually post in the w/c sections but had a most unfortunate accident  and would appreciate some advice from the pro's.

Dropped a glass of blackcurrent and lemonade on the landing and whilst I immediately used my domestic bissell machine, vanish powerspray, Mr muscle etc etc etc. the area is still pink.

Is it ruined now ?
Is there a magic solution you guys use when its days old ?
Do I have to ask Santa for a new landing carpet ?

With doing what you did to the carpet, the answer to your question:-

Is it ruined now ?

The answer is probably YES.  Why Oh Why did you not ask your question on here before attacking yourself?? Do you have accident insurance??

mmm sounds pretty doubtfull it will go,

Sorry to say so but you probably used the worst things known to man on it

Like John said you should of spoke to us first, but not all is lost try looking at

if this doesnt remove it, you will know for the future, and may be time to call in a pro

Unfortunately my instant reaction to the stain was to attack it quickly and having read the NCCA link it seems as if speed is important but with the right solutions.

Which solutions was the wrong one to use - just so I know for future reference.

I wouldent recomend any shop bought products as ive seen damage done with all of them, 1001 with scotch gaurd seems the worst, if it doesnt remove the stain it sets it then coats it with protector making it harder still to remove, all these chemicals are too strong and can cause bleaching.

I would not advise anyone to use vanish especially on light or woolen carpets and probably any carpet. So many times it leaves a pink stain which is very hard to remove. sometimes it can be removed with special treatments, but not always, depending on the area of the stain and the depth of colour.

Yes Thank goodness but with the first £50 excess its probably not much more to pay it outright as its only a small area.

Its a shame now on hindsight it did not drip on the top step or into the bedroom which was all done in the same carpet at the same time.

There is a newish product floating about, wineaway, you will have to use the search function to find it.  It will, apparently, deal with blackcurrent as well as red wine, although you may have set the stain with your kitchen sink concoction...
