4040 flush times
« on: January 08, 2012, 05:01:08 pm »
Just put in a new 4040 membrane.

Just wondering how long to flush before the preservatives are out?  I can't remember how long I did it last time.

Thanks,

Vin

i changed my twin 4040 membranes yesterday and flushed for 2 hours. they then worked fine, previous 2 lasted 3 years! A salt softner is a must

Lee, how often do you run the salt through your softening resin? Or do you have an automatic one, I had a separate resin bottle with the softening resin in and a 10" filter housing I would put the salt in, but I never knew how often in needed to flush the resin

I backwash with salt 2 or 3 times a week along with a 10-15 minutes mambrane flush.

a salt softner will double the life of the membranes, it also helps the water pruduce faster and with a lower tds output.

First hour, TDS of 35

Second hour, down to 17

After about five hours it's settled at 10. (from 280 in)

Nice.
