Price rise.
« on: January 06, 2012, 11:09:21 pm »
I've started putting my prices up this week by £1 per job. Had a couple of negative comments but most ok with it.
Also got 3 big jobs via Yell.com Its my best ever start to a year. Worked 4.5 days this week too!!

Anyone else putting their prices up soon?

Yes for about half of my customers...some work i bought 2 years ago.
the other half had a price increase in march 2011. I dont like to do it in Jan people still have the christmas debt on their mind. once this half have had an increase, I will be increasing my prices annually. Im affraid I have been guilty of not putting my prices up for a few years.

we've given out letter this month, the usual price review, prices staying same. but small amendment, to keep efficient and prices low we ask for as much notice before any cancellations, ie 48 hours min if possible, and as prices are quoted for 5 or 10 weekly frequency if asked to skip then 25% increase for following clean.

figure can push this on them as price staying same....

last wholescale price increase was Jan 2010, so next year will be a bigger one, ie 15 to 20 % depending. felt better to leave it at mo with economy situation. that's what seemed right for us anyway!

Tell them in April ..... "as from next clean your price will be £xx"

Hopefully by April the sun will be out and people wont be as skint as they are now after Christmas.

Most be £1 extra but some early jobs I canvassed with connies need to be about £4 more.

Still got my very first customers and I bottled it last year with price increase if Im honest but will defo be £2 increase.

May give some the option of going bimonthly to cut workload down and delay the need for employing.

£2 increase seems a bit harsh but everyone to their own I suppose.

some early jobs a little underpriced so only talking a handful @ £2 - £4 mostly be a quid or nowt on the recent stuff.

Reckon will be £300 better off by time im done even if I loose some but now at point that dont worry if I loose a job especially if its underpriced.

Loose 20 then just go and knock doors for a few weekends.

Plus want to get back into conny cleaning as good earner but no time this year ... handy to have a few when its a very wet day so this would more than make up any that cock.

No disrespect Ian because I did it too, and alot of w cleaners down my way still do, but thats a CLASSIC NEWBY MISTAKE (I know it was a while ago, this is for any newbys following the thread) only charging £2 or £3  extra for a conservatory!  :o there is just as much glass on a cons as the rest of the house.
Thats how I saw other people pricing them in my early days and followed suit..not anymore £5 minimum and thats for a small one.

The supermarkets don't care if they put prices up in January, neither do the petrol stations. Cost of living went up in January.

We are all held to ransom by these. My prices will still be going up every 12 months from now on, just in march rather than jan when people have debt and other increases on their budget as you mentioned. I feel if I  do it a couple of months later it will sit easier with them.

They need those kind of things all the time. Theyre called everyday essentials so putting up prices in Jan or March shouldn't really matter.

I count the panels and doors and multiply by 50p so average small conny has approx 10 panels and 2 doors so £6 but defo agree with all u said

for some underpriced jobs im going to have a few wildcard big increases this spring, say them with a deadpan expression and i will act totally shocked and hurt  if they get unfriendly.  if they try to bargain i will say okay, lets pick a different price and my new ones higher still , this should be fun  ;D
