water barrels

getting a van on wed & a mate said he could get ibc tanks from work so he rolled up today with 2 250 ltr tanks but they're barrels,  apparently the ibc's are all 1000ltr & too big for me   these barrels are  tidy but how the hell am i going to strap 'em  down????  got a mate who can make a cage but he's away at the mo & i need to be working by thurs   vans got plenty of strapping points but they're all on the floor!! so any ideas please

use them for static in your garage/garden whatever..no good for in the van.

I have seen them used inside a van although I wouldn't advise it, or dream of doing it myself. Same goes for an IBC tank.

Great for garage or garden but if your having a tank in your van,buy a baffled one,very dangerous otherwise!

i was gonna baffle it by either filling with land drain or just lots of water bottles , damn

Not being baffled is only part of the problem, the biggest problem is they are difficult to secure.  Not just from moving in the van when your driving, but when you come to a sudden stop.

They are made from a different plastic to the "standard" off the peg tanks we use. nowhere near as strong, when you try to ratchet strap it the shape will distort and may even crack.

IF YOU CANT AFFORD A PROPER TANK YET YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF USING A LOAD OF 25L DRUMS (INSTEAD OF RAIN BUTT OPTION) AND JUST DROP PICK UP PIPE IN AND SWITCH WHEN EMPTY.IT WILL STILL BE MUCH BETTER THAN TROLLY OR BACKPACK IMO.

advise taken thanks i'm buying 1    but now which one daqua are the best priced but how easy would it be to strap a 400 ltr  upright...  also do i need to get the tank elbow ???  im not fitting a pump yet just a tap

is the 400 upright ok to strap  cos the 350 looks a better shape

a berlingo first they're ply lining it & boading it off up to height off head rests i dont know if thats a bulkhead or not as its only ply

i would go for the 350  the 400 pobably top heavy and might put you overweight

really ! this is my first van getting it tomorrow night     been working out of estate cars for years so nervous of getting wrong set up but a 350 flat i suppose.  looking at the pics of tanks have they got holes through the middle ??

If it mentions internal baffles then yes theres approx a 3" gap sandwhiched in the middle, I wrap my long ratchet straps round/through it

Yes thats the baffle so the water doesnt surge, sorry not being patronising you prob know that  ;D

yeh its up  & running thanks with the cleaning spot tap its great compared to my estate & barrels   i may even invest in a pump & hose reel in jan now  whole set up feels much more professorial l & i've picked up 2 jobs just from having the van sign written. 350 ltr was the right choice an all   so thanks again

no problem mate. was the tap good then? i might get one myself.

good idea about pump and hosereel i found it so much quicker.
